The new year. Changes afoot?

At work, end of the week. It’s a new year, and the beginning of a new decade, but in real terms the actual year is an arbitrary choice. Same thing applies to the day chosen to cross over to the new year. I have no idea what a sane choice for the year count is, but changing the new year to Winter Solstice, and making 13 months of 28 days, with 1 or 2 days of festival before the new year seems much more sane to me. Never gonna happen, though-too much is set up with the existing calendar.
Alright-I took most of the christmas/new year’s nexus off-at work 2 days, and we had a surprise storm one of those days. Christmas was nice-Erika’s mom was here, the kids enjoyed themselves immensely. The storm was a sudden 2 inches in the afternoon, melted away by the next morning. New Year’s was a party at a church friends’ house-lotsa kids, we watched the ball drop at 9. Erika had a huge migraine so she went home early.
Back to work Tuesday, the kids had a hard time getting up this week. Colin got a haircut. It’s been Portland rainy. I did a UI design thing late Tuesday night-hopefully it will translate into paying work. Work is busy-a number of things going on.
I had a Facebook discussion ith a childhood classmate about Muslims in Homeland Security and then about Islam and Christianity. She asserts that I’ve accepted Satan into my life, which is ridiculous, on so many levels. Not following Jesus-I’ll buy that, but I’ve been asked to not, so I’m not.
Not much else, need to get stuff done, rather than being lazy. I’m doing t’ai chi every night-Chinese National form. Low and slow, so it’s a workout. Maybe I’ll find time to jump rope and do the 6-minute workout. Working on a recap before bed, and I want to start the first KHW exercise-take an idea and focus on it to the exclusion of everything else.
