9:40 am-Well, it’s been a month since a music post and 4 months since a text post. That’s called a hiatus, I guess. Not as long as the one after 9/11, though… It’s been a bit of a wild ride, lo, these past few months.
I guess the major news is that Hollywood Video is no more and I have a job at Huron Consulting doing Java programming. I started last week. One of my former co-workers works next door. Odd, that. And the recruiter used to work for friends of mine from UUFLB. And there are Miami alums all over the place. I’m also doing a part-time Java thing that’s much messier. Like the last time, it only took me a few months to find work. And like last time, I was able to look for work while still getting paid. I’m waiting to see what happens with severance…probably nothing.
Not much else, I’m taking a break from the Steiner stuff. I’m still doing the exercises, but the equilibrium one is really tough with kids. We did sermons for church last week-rather well received. We have lots of raspberries this year, not a lot of strawberries, and the blackberries look to be bountiful. Pumpkins grew from seeds, and swiss chard too, but nothing else. It’s been very hot this past week, but chilly and rainy for most of the spring.
The world seems to spinning normally-the usual, pretty much. The BP thing is a thing, and the rest of the massive nastiness around the world continues. I wish people would try to be nice to each other.
Truthout is posting some great stuff-the disappearing intellectual, chartering disaster, gov’t impotence and interdependency idiocy. There’s lots more there. I posted a few other links over on facebook over time as well.
