The hot begins

Please tip the writer. Whatever amount you like-every little bit helps, and I’ll do a shoutout. We are always short of cash, especially with a big mortgage. Let me know if you or someone you know needs web design/development-my rates aren’t bad, and I’m more than pretty good at it. Java/database/AWS/UI too. ThankYouVeryMuch!

Time for summer to begin, even though it’s just the start of June. It was pretty chilly, but that looks like it’s changing. Need to pull out the A/Cs. We have bunnies in our yard, so there’s that. Really, everything in our little corner is fine, just like the dog in a burning room-fine… Last child is graduating high school and going to be a camp counselor over the summer, the middle is looking for an apartment/house with their SO, and the oldest is getting his Master’s-he’s going to take a year and just work. I’ve been talking about a slow collapse for ages, but I thought it was just me. Looks like it’s everything. The natural world will be fine. Heck, a 10 mile asteroid just put a little dent in it, though it killed off a lot of animals. Things were back to normal very quickly in geological terms, though that probably translates to a few tens of thousands of years. Not that the dinosaurs appreciated it-but they just turned into birds. It certainly helped us out a lot. Anyways, don’t really want to dwell, trying to get my little thing going and progress. I went through a time where this little blog was a lot political, but I just don’t want to deal anymore. It is becoming hard to avoid.

Thursday lunchtime (3/19). Pretty quiet, trying to put a spreadsheet together. All I’m doing is vulnerabilities. Not much else, got the yearly big thing. Been doing shorter workouts-so crowded on Tuesdays. Nice gamelan, driving people around, trying to ignore politics, that’s it. Been watching the West Wing. Makes me sad, seeing a smart administration. It may be idealistic, but the contrast is stark.

Sunday (3/22) morning. In bed, had to get up at 9 to work-it’s cold. And yesterday afternoon. Pretty easy and quick. Other than that, not much. Cut the grass yesterday, shopping, take Salem to an audition, back to running and the regular workout Friday. Miami made it to the basketball tournament and promptly lost.

Sunday night-did the afternoon work thing, 9 of 111 failed. Took Salem to a first aid training thing, trimmed bushes, pulled blackberries and holly, trimmed edges. Shop, dinner, lazy-no time to workout. Matt blew out the porches and cut down a fallen tree. Our yard is in better shape…

Sunday (3/29) in bed. Don’t really want to get up. Pretty quiet week, no gamelan, workouts-first outdoor run!, work, Erika’s endoscopy, annual review, driving, nice conversations with Claire about Lord of the Rings.

Thursday (4/9)-another week and a half gone, gone, gone. Went back to the Darden workouts. A lovely young lady was curious because I did the 30-10-30 working in. What else-driving Salem to KinkFest over the weekend-she was manning the first aid station. The weather is lovely-cut the grass Sunday.

Monday morning (4/20). Sitting in a meeting. Lovely weekend-Erika and Salem are in Nashville for a school choir trip. Cleaned the side porch and outside front porch Saturday, the car yesterday. Bagged the workout because washing a car is hard work. Went to a show at PSU Friday night. It was wild-I know one of the pianists. We chatted afterwards-she wants to visit gamelan, and has a piano that has glass tines. The show was 2 pianists, one piano, loosely structured, 40 minutes, and 80 rolls of washi tape that we had to festoon the pianists with. Not much else, a thing, getting Erika and Salem to school early on Friday, cleaned the front porch last weekend. Need to clean the bins I pulled from the side porch before it rains. Made mushroom risotto last night.

Wednesday noon. Tired. Paid some bills, got a check from the dentist. Short workout last night, picked up Erika and Salem from school. Got the bins cleaned, then it rained.

Wednesday afternoon (4/29). No gamelan tonight. Busy going nowhere at work. Got a new project coming up. Not much else. Cut the grass, pulled blackberries.

Friday noon (4/31). Quiet, sunny day. Code review and changes. Killed myself yesterday to get in a ton of change requests for password rotations by the deadline. Yuck.

Friday afternoon (5/29). Another whole month just vanished. Forget what happened-working on a new project. Got the ceiling fan switched, looked at cars and cabinets, cleaned the grill. Probably going to get a new kitchen faucet, also put a screen door on the front. Claire and Fynne are looking at places. And the usual work, workout, driving-suburban life…

Tuesday afternoon (6/2). Prod deploy Tuesday. Once a month. And I have to cancel two of the deploys because reasons. Pretty busy weekend-I’m still kind of sore, so I’m a little glad I can’t work out, though I really need to keep up the cardio-my running is suffering-I used to be able to easily run a 12 minute mile, and was progressing-now, no. Also put in a new sill plate and screen door on the front, and blew out the porches, trimmed the driveway greenery so the camera can see, pulled blackberries by the driveway, and did weed trimming all around except up the driveway. Matt cut the grass. Yesterday our neighbor cut the looong grass in his vacant backyard, and I think the bunnies that were living there are in our yard-I saw them chasing each other around. Not much else. I should call this.

Page 23, sentence 5: “We are not what we own; we are what we do, what we think, and who we love.”, The Joy of Less; “My wife can leave at any time.”, Tribe of Mentors. (been slacking on reading-have a ton of books I just renewed over and over that now need to go back.)
