It’s fall and the holidays are upon us

Please tip the writer. Whatever amount you like-every little bit helps, and I’ll do a shoutout. We are always short of cash, especially with a big mortgage. Let me know if you or someone you know needs web design/development-my rates aren’t bad, and I’m more than pretty good at it. Java/database/AWS/UI too. ThankYouVeryMuch!

Here we are on the run up to Thanksgiving and Christmas. My oldest son hates this time of year-all the enforced cheer and such, plus the cold and rain-he works outside. Don’t know what else-it’s been busy at work, everyone is doing all right-the cold and wet is here. I watch it while I’m working. Also thinking about all my stuff-what to trim, what I really really need. Over the years I’ve tried to figure out what the bottom line is, and have lists, but drawing the line is not easy. Oh well-onward. Not much to say about the wider world and such-we’re not making it easy on ourselves. Listened to a thing by the Theosophical Society-basically our work is never done, it just shifts. It made me think about how our perceptions shift.

Monday 9/26. It’s rainy and cool today, Mr. Duck is here. We’re feeding him duck chow now. He comes most every morning, though a little later today. Busy working, trying to get stuff finished. Yesterday was mellow, listened to church an hour late, ate, went to the libe and the binz, shopping, Mike’s, workout, dinner, TV, bed. Salem was sore because of skating on Saturday.

Monday night, time for bed. Dad died today. Sis said he wasn’t improving, and the nurse told her it was only a few days or weeks, and this was the end anyways. So we turned off the oxygen and it was this afternoon-lots of morphine, so no struggle, but a fuzzy ending. Mom couldn’t stay in the room, so sis was. Good for her. We’re going down at Christmas and will probably spread his ashes by the creek in the mountains where he liked to fish. I said the first phrases of the Bardo in the hope he would hear it and take the first exit. Requiescat in pace, you were a good guy and a fine father. Too bad about the dementia at the end.

Tuesday night. In bed with the tablet, time for sleep. Busy day of meetings, but got stuff done too. Rainy during the day. Ran outside because it was cool, fast pace, even with the hills-10:55! I’ve been doing 12 on the treadmill…is that right? Treadmill translates to a minute faster on the road? Good workout, need to up some weights, I’m working hard with the 2 up/4 down super perfect Nautilus form-thinking of trying the 30/10/30 Darden thing. Decent t’ai chi-28 mins.

Thursday in bed, time to sleep. Busy day, working on a production release that will take all weekend.  At least it isn’t time consuming… Quiet yesterday, cool, rainy, got stuff done, watched Fifth Element with Salem.

Next Wednesday (10/6) Time is flying by. Pretty much as usual. Erika’s planning our trip to SoCal. I upped my distance on the road on Fri. and Sun.-5k plus!-it was nice so I went out rather than to the gym-to the gym yesterday as it was rainy. I’ve also upped my weights. Took Erika to a rally Sat., picked her up, then Salem to roller derby camp. Did a screening, got a free BP cuff. The BP was super high, but came back to normal in the end.

Friday afternoon (10/8.) Monday night-pretty quiet weekend-tidied and put away a/c Saturday, lazy Sunday. Not much else-5k both workout days, long t’ai chi, Salem walked with me today. It’s getting into Fall. Planning our trip-changing it up a bit.

Tuesday night-a busy day. Got stuff done. More remains. Had to take Salem to school. Unfortunately some douche broke the passenger window, so we had to clean that up before going-made them late, and me too. Spent more time later putting in a cardboard filling, then a vinyl one. Luckily we hadn’t had the windows replaced from the last vandalism yet. Had to go to the store after work, picked up Matt, no workout. Dinner, tv, bed.

Wednesday evening. Pretty quiet day. Got stuff, no, almost got stuff working. Want to do something for the talent contest. I have a week.

Thursday evening, hanging out. Not much else. Made progress, but things are still not working. Still thinking about the talent stuff.

Saturday evening, 10/16. Hanging out, Salem and Erika are at her teachers’ having a game night. Roller derby today, binz. Decided to do indoor kites for the talent thing, and maybe record something. Tidied, swept.

Sunday evening. Mathias and I went to the PSU gym and took some videos. I did some on skates too-that’s not easy-you’re always circling backwards-need more work. Other than that, lazy morning, run and workout this evening. It’s raining now. I’m keeping my pace-5k and 5.5 mph, lifting is progressing, t’ai chi is 30 mins, which is what Dr Yang suggests-my breathing and circulation is coming back too, even with the slow.

Wednesday 10/27. Sitting in bed, watching Call the Midwife.  Woo-hoo. Another week has flown, I should call this. Erika has been having spells all week, Salem has a cold and stayed out of school, me too, but I kept working. No workouts since last Friday- busy doing everything. Trying to get stuff done at work.

Mr. Duck hanging out

Friday morning. Mr. Duck is back after a bit of a hiatus. We don’t have any duck chow, so it’s bird seed. He’s sitting just off the porch. Erika didn’t have a spell yesterday, and seems fine today. Salem is dressed like a Call the Midwife midwife for school Halloween.

Back after a bit of a hiatus. (11/13) Busy at work, not much else. We have rats. Switched to internet only. Took a week off working out. Don’t like running in the dark.

Wednesday (11/17) morning. Listening to a meeting. Big fun. Not much happening-worked out last night-running intervals. Getting sore very quickly afterwards, and didn’t sleep well too-restless. I think I’ll call this. Not much over the weekend-tidying, workouts, shopping, Salem to roller derby, fighting with her about schoolwork, not much else…some fun-thought about “what is my job” while I was tidying. Concluded I have many jobs at various levels, that everything is grouped in threes, and that our skull is a tin foil hat. Funny how that works. It’s windy. Drove Colin around some a few weeks ago-he went to a con-quite the anime fashion cosplayer. Need to switch car insurance-we did one of those driving monitors and they raised our rates $500 a year. That was a shock…
