11:58 pm-Again, in bed, computing. Another usual day. Dropped off the kids, played a bit, work-BP revisions, birthday cake for boss, picked up kids-tea at work, home, dinner, got rid of unused bike through Freecycle, to bed, dinner, a bit o’didge practice. Dentist tomorrow. Put all my links up on the website. Laundry, quickie workout. Watched South Park. Now to bed.

11:13 pm-In bed, computing. Wrote a bitty program to merge my 2 bookmark files. Now I have to integrate the changes. The day was much like many others. Kids to school-it sprinkled, work, BP-finishing touches, got a new laptop to replace the one that went south, lunch, tea, home, dinner, kids, dinner, Criminal Minds, forgot about South Park, had to reset the wireless router, Journey mail, laundry, dishes. Time for bed.

1:14 pm-Taking a break from looking at the pictures from the Big Project. They look nice, but I’m prejudiced… So far, dropped off the kids, Erika had a Dr’s appt, played a bit. Libby got convicted, worked on BP, tore the rest of the Widespread Panic podcasts, trying to get good OCR software. Listening to: rain, P4, Hydrogen Jukebox, TMBG, Tool, Vangelis, Flaming Lips, System of a Down, Robert Rich, Pink Floyd, Utopia, Phil Kline, Stephanie Bennett, Japan, Ozzy, Vangelis, Lisa Gerrard, Residents, twice, Verdi, Crystal Method, Todd Rundgren, Maple Cottage, Tenacious D, “Interview With the Vampire” e-book, more Residents, ouch…

12:04 am-Time for bed-installing the Free Pascal package. Usual evening, picked up a lottery ticket, home, dinner, bed, dinner, TV. Practiced the didge a bit-I’m improving. That’s it.

10:08 am-starting work-listening to Democracy Now! Robert Fisk interviewed-fascinating-he is SO experienced. Matt came in with a bad dream. Kids to school late. Erika’s working. No $$$. Onward. Downloaded a kQQl gamelan sample set, ambient from Eric Cook, Widespread Panic (the guitarist went to my high school), Arcade Fire.

2:43 pm-Back from lunch-yawn. Erika’s tired too. Working on the final page for the Big Project. Agenda for Journey School meeting. Time spent for the past 3 months. Gamelan recordings. Listening to Bruce Sterling’s speech at sxsw ’06. Interesting. Got a copy of Steampunk magazine.

4:49 pm-Done with final page of Big Project-gonna spend tomorrow cleaning things up. Tea, Big Project, listening to Widespread Panic & pulling tunes from the podcast. Not much else.

11:40 pm-Another sleepytime post. Good day-church, lunch, hiking with the boys-we found the trail we didn’t find the last time-in reverse-called BlackJack. Nice day for it. Erika shopped and relaxed. Back, tea, dinner, bath, bed. Dinner, TV, paper, web. TV thing on kiteboarding. No practice-thinking about switching to GC tuning, maybe guitar teaching. Dunno-I need to find a method-I don’t know enough about the GC process-maybe just winging it… I know this much: posture, position, pick and strum, chords, scales. The rest is practice and motivation. I like the note-return bit and being available to music. We’ll see.

11:27 pm-End of day Saturday. Not much-slept in a bit, made breakfast, coffee, tea. Hung out solving Rubik’s cubes for the boys (I have instructions) We went to deposit checks, Erika got some blood taken, helped an old lady who got hit by a car. Drove to the swapmeet, got lunch, a tea filter, earbuds, toys for the boys, listened to some drummer with too much gear, walked around. Home, play, tea, dinner, boys watched Treasure Planet. Bed, dinner, TV. Practiced the didge a bit-a little better. Continue tracking soon. It’s not terribly critical that this be perfect-it’ll end up getting bounced anyways… I’m thinking of using the Vajrasattva Purification Ritual for the vocals on this didge piece-makes it a world bit-didge, rainstick, tabla, recorder maybe, some synth thing, vocals. I have 7 tracks to play with-4 parts-didge, rainstick, synth; tabla, sampler drums; recorder and vocals. We’ll see-things do tend to change during the recording process.

3:27 pm-Middle of the day-I’m tired, need tea. Ate lunch early-they had a chili cookoff and I ate during that. So, now I’m tired. Listening to Jethro Tull preceded by Crimson. So, the last days: kids to school, work, shopping, home. The kids went to a birthday party at Pump it up!-a place full of big inflatable bouncy things. Sweaty fun-I’ve been to the one in Lake Forest. Erika got kicked out and told to go and do something by herself. Home, kids’ dinner and to bed. Erika napped, my dinner, TV. Erika didn’t seem amenable to didge practice so I did a load of wash instead.

Today so far-kids to school, work, chili thing. Now on: A Perfect Circle or Tool (vlc isn’t showing anything, but I know Maynard’s voice-probly APC…). (3:55) Tea time.

5:07 pm-Almost time for home, start of weekend. Another page of Big Project completeish-final page snapped, pasted and ready to work on Monday. Listening to rain sound effect, preceded by dub and avant-rock. Feel better after tea. Time to pack up.

12:09 am-Time to sleep. Uneventful-home, kids, Rubik’s cube solving, dinner, to bed, dinner, TV, computing. Practiced drums and didge a bit-still need to work on circular breathing-getting better, but not there yet. Tracking has to wait. The son of a kite acquaintance has cancer. Sad. That’s it.

9:34 pm-Another day. Finished up the next page of Big Project, didn’t get a chance to track the didge-problems getting my circular breathing going, reconfigured the mouthpiece, practiced a bit instead. Work, home, kids’ dinner, to bed in good time, dinner, Criminal Minds, laundry, CSI:NY.

10:54 am-About to start work-listening to Democracy Now. Not much going on-rain. Colin didn’t want to sleep in his bed. Came in late, slept on my side. Worked on starting a new recording-didge stuff-probably track some tonight. Erika shopped, kids to bed, ate dinner in bed, converted movies to mp3, ripped a DVD. Slept.

11:41-Busy PM-onto next section of the Big Project, bitty changes to Flash thing. Checked out the NABT stuff-more tomorrow. Erika went to a Dr’s appt, had to pick the kids up at school. Home, tried to track the didge-not feeling it. Kids to bed, dinner, ncis, unit, criminal minds. Trying to get bochs working again for the nabt project-have to compile-blecch. Looked up Chris Martin-he’s running Jaggo Records and a studio.

10:49 am-I have to jump this in before things get started-a quick recap. Friday-late in-missed a meeting-kids came for lunch. Started scanning with the new printer-big scan jobs don’t work. Tried to get OCR going with Tesseract-didn’t work well. Tried to get fax going as well and failed at that too. Saturday-lazy, played a bit outside. Polly’s for dinner, picked up Akeelah and the Bee and Nanny McPhee-watched Akeelah. Sunday, church, Manhattan deli for lunch, Colin has lice-we washed stuff all day, watched Nanny McPhee. Colin stays home today and is visiting while Erika goes to the doctors’.

5:01 pm-Another suitable time to diarize-just prior to departing for home-the 3 times to diarize: just to starting work, just prior to departing for home, just prior to sleeping-pretty much the only times where I have a few minutes to type without other obligations. So, a pretty quiet workday-finishing up alternate selection mechanisms for the Big Project, Colin visited, we had lunch. An interesting email about why churches grow-youth, exciting worship, lack of conflict, geography. UU’s were placed in liberal Protestant, so I fired off an email to the survey folks saying that this was incorrect. Saying that I’m a liberal Protestant is beyond ridiculous and a bit insulting. Time to gather my files, put them on the storage unit and go home.

11:15 pm-This really is the best time for me to do this-in bed, computing. Working on the 2nd job that I can’t say anything more about. Erika got home at 2, kids to play date, work on big project, burned Tom Tom Club cd for Matt-Erika banned it. Dinner, kids to bed, dinner, work.

10:33 pm-Just finished dinner-yummy potstickers. Listening to an annoying audio computer rendering of a book by Michael Moore. Hard to listen to. Anyways. Kids to another play date. Work-more Big Project. Lunch, tea, get the kids. Pancakes for dinner. To bed. Chatted with one of my staff and with a 2nd job boss. That’s it. Whoopee. Erika is driving home tonight.
