In a warehouse, trying to get out, but it’s blocked. Try to get the power back. Everything looks OK-they didn’t shut down. Zombies start coming, so we head for the exits. A scary big yellow dog comes at me and it beat it up. It gives up and I pet it after a tiger comes over. Head for the exits and I can’t get through until I finish up. I drop the thing and scoot past but the door is locked. I finally sneak through.
In a park, some kids disappeared down a magic thing. I go and try to get through and get them out. A storm comes and I run for cover. Lightning spikes in a line right in front of me.

Ruminating…

I think this post is going to be more ruminative than the norm-I have a few minutes, and I usually don’t get much free time. Even though I should use this time to pay bills… No matter. Do bills at home after gamelan. OK. I get so fatigued at night. And my back kills me in bed. I wonder what’s up? Is this just middle age? Probably. I’m also getting Meniere’s, and the person at Sellwood Clinic thinks so too. So I have an appointment. My car is also needing repair, but I don’t really have the cash. I’m glad I have a job, though, when a lot of other people I know don’t. And a lot of other people around the country don’t either. I think this what’s fueling all the anger. That and a sense of powerlessness. The problem is that the pundits are very skillfully directing their anger away from the real culprits. Anyways.
I’ve been reading a ton of Steiner lo this past year, and I think I’m to the point to where I can usefully set up things. Now to do it-a little more research to go, though. I’m trying to get a grant-hopefully I’ll make it to round two. This stuff is super useful, and I’m hoping I can work in some of the other useful stuff in without stepping on any toes. We need this, especially now, and the necessity of the 3-fold social order is clear too. That may be a more difficult road. Social change of the necessary magnitude is colossally difficult, but maybe starting small and coming up with a good plan is a good first step. I need to think on this more.
The fast few days have found me feeling down about things, but I think it’s because of all the reading and events rather than an internal thing, other than the usual cash woes. If I can work this program and start back on the exercise that will help some. I don’t think gamelan is helping either-it’s just so intense and so draining. Though I’ve been able to keep the house clean, which is an accomplishment in and of itself…

The inevitable recap…

So this is the post with the event summary. Whoopee. This is the nice thing to do, because 2 years from now I can know what happened in specifics. And here it is: Erika’s nasty cortisone shot-she has plantar fasciitis and went to the podiatrist’s. He shot up both feet and the OK one didn’t like it. She also has heel spurs. We held the Harvest Festival inside this year-it went great-Erika was laid out b/c of her feet so she didn’t go. I did sound. The trapped Chilean miners were freed after 67 days. They did what they did for the ones in PA, but way further down. They were mostly OK.

Gamelan practice is unrelenting. We have shows in Nov. and we’re practicing 2 days a week. We’re also gong to record, which is going to be fun. Did some yardwork a few Sundays ago-raking, cut blackberries. We had a non-violent communications seminar at school a week ago Sat., church Sun. Erika had a bad headache & went to the hospital the Tues. Colin rode to school with Matt-Erika was nervous so I checked up on them. Matt and Salem have colds.

Went on a tree planting Sat., but got there late so we only planted 2 and helped clean up. Had lunch w/Matt @ Shari’s afterwards. Bailed on church Sun., been rainy and cold. Another Meniere’s attack-this time with dizzy, but only lasted 2 days. Indonesia-Merapi is erupting and another tsunami struck-people died in the tsunami, but luckily the eruption just sent them running. Midwest had a bout of heavy weather, probably from the storm that bounced through here over the weekend.

While I’m getting work done, I’ve also read some pretty intense op-eds from truthout and the like. Please read, even if you disagree. We need to take in opposing points of view to maintain civility in our public life.

At Hollywood, they’ve taken down most of the cubes, we try to count how many are left so they can order desks. Some are filled with junk. Some guy asks about making a change and I give him some BS line about too much for the return. Del comes over and tells us he’s bouncing the server and we need to logout.

At a Miami reunion, walking through a bar. Talk to Bob Bertog in green hair & he’s really drunk. Walk up some hill and slide down, it’s snowy and bumps are starting to form, start to go up again.

In a small plane, circling to land at a tiny airstrip. We go up and down and finally make it down, just at the end.
IN a room with a bunch of people. We record a song with all of us-I’m playing guitar. He wants another take, but on a different place on the tape, so I fast forward and set to slow. He’s recording us all, putting it through a speaker and out in the hall. We go through it.

Skating down Belmont Shore-it’s crowded on the street. Some teen girls are around me chattering and bumping into me. I’m a bit aroused. I start to talk to them. Turn off into an apartment building, but my key doesn’t work. Turn around and glide down the stairs. Back the other way-off to the other office in North Long Beach.

Busy day.

9:19 am-Phone meeting in 10 mins. Gotta get this grant thing done today.

12:11 pm-Going through a rock block. Nice. I’m feeling really good right now. Working on UI designs.

3:38 pm-Back from lunch. Wish I had some dessert, but that’s probably for the best. Working on sub-page design. Got a “good job” for the front page design.

Chocolate pretzels are yummy.

I’m tired. Maybe it was the 18,000 chocolate pretzels I just ate. They were yummy.

At US, there’s a craft fair thing. Erika and mom are coming, but I’m not supposed to be in town. I need to find a place to go where they won’t see me. I go back home but my door won’t lock. Back to school, but there are no rooms in the hotel. Walk to the parking lot. Go down to Chagrin Falls and walk around to find a place to go.

Fall designs.

It’s a lovely fall day, except for the warm temps. Working on main page designs.

Some guy is trying to sell me on a computer security system. Something with encryption and name-value pairs. I say no, but he has some big OHS guy come up and intimidate me. I ignore him and walk behind the hotel. They’re working on the software and it’s not working. I watch for a little bit.

2010/10/10

At a racetrack. Look at the aftermath of a big crash, try to get my car going and my gear in place.
Go bowling with Patrick Swayze in drag and his mom. She’s big friends with everyone, but they only open up one lane. Patrick is upset.

Fall is here.

It’s a beautiful fall day-clear blue sky, sunny with a little chill in the air. No rain. Yet. Yesterday was pretty quiet-finished up the UI, orking on the design doc. Home, Erika to a meeting, played some Plants vs Zombies, kids to bed, dinner. Up today, kids to school, to work. A fire drill-excruciatingly loud. I think my Meniere’s attack is over. Waiting for the next one-if I have it, I’ll call the Dr. and get a referral to an ENT that knows about Meniere’s. Luckily I don’t have vertigo. Yet. No drop attacks or nausea, which seem to be the debilitating bits. Gamelan tonight & tomorrow night-we’re on the road to 2 concerts in Nov.

Listening to: KPOJ, Yes, Clash, The Multiple Cat, Beck, George Clinton, Sneaker Pimps, Laurie Anderson

Sitting around a conference table. Gina Lobaco is there and I walk around to talk to her. I ask her if she’s going by Lobaco or Blum. She says Lobaco and I introduce her.

Short postings? Maybe…

I may go back to short posts more often. Don’t know yet. So yesterday was tough-my tummy was all messed up from the weekend. Work was OK-I’m doing UI bits and writing the design at the same time. Home, wife to meeting, boys to bed, hang out with daughter, wife home, play Plants vs Zombies, dinner, bed. Up today, Erika is going to Tigard with Matt’s class, but she got up really late. They’re going to the Hindu temple we went to last year for church. I take Salem to preschool, forget breakfast for her, so she eats ½ my hamburger bun. Easy here-no real traffic.
