12:44 am-Happy Equinox. Last thing to do today. Busy weekend-going through all the book boxes and stuff in storage. We’ve culled a LOT and I want to reorganize and do another pass. OK.

To recap: no news about the job-the guy is out until Tues. Took Colin home, quiet. Thurs-Matt is sick. Erika took Colin to school. Stay home, go to storage and get a bunch of boxes. Go through them. Fri-Colin to school, dentist, back home to look after Matt-Salem is getting sick too. Go to bookstore & sell books, Hat, Salvation Army, storage, go through more boxes. Today-more boxes, Goodwill, home. It’s Easter-whoopee-the holiday is the Equinox, which was on the 21st…

Walking into the area in back of my across the street neighbors from Lander. Climb up a hill, then on a trail-they’re building some school? buildings there. Walk around.

10:16 am-Arthur C. Clarke died. I read a lot of his books. He was 90.

Not much else-waiting for the news about the job. I talked to the recruiter and he said that I was the best of the candidates they’d seen. So, wait, wait, wait. Home Monday, kids to bed, up Tuesday, run around at school, work, broke the news to my staff, took Matt’s stilts to school, went to storage and inventoried, did the same thing at home. Gotta go back and look through the 29 boxes I didn’t go through. Home, dinner, kids to bed. Up today, kids to school, here at work. Waiting.

1:56 pm-Quickly-time to go to lunch. Recap: Sunday, church, family thing afterwards, shopping after that. Some rain and thunder-that’ll change if we move to North Carolina. Kids to bed, settling back into a routine-my trip threw them off a bit. House is nice and clean, and we’re working through all the wash (actually, I cleaned & sorted, Erika is doing the actual washing) We still have some bits over Erika’s trying to do things and me tidying-I clean up things she’s still working on-we need to figure out a “don’t clean this” signal. No matter-it’ll work out. Today-kids to school, late, to work, go through all my email, phone interview for a Quest job in Toronto, an icon design task, someone else getting laid off visited. Sent out thank you emails and letters. The car rental thing was a snafu with the rental folks, and not unusual. Haven’t heard about the job. I’m a bit on edge-I don’t want to blast out more applications unless this one is a bust. Nothing else is moving right now either. <sigh>

Daily posting-3/15/2008

10:56 pm-In bed, computing, spent the day cleaning. Erika went to a green thing for the school. Kids watched TV, taking commercials out to run around. It seemed to work to break up the monotony. Not much in the way of artificial light either. Yesterday-landed OK, bumpy again, bags OK, to school-took Colin home. No news.

7:32 am-Waiting for a flight to Atlanta. At 9, so it’s a longer wait than I really want, but I was up, so I figured it was better to go and get here. Everything went really easy-no traffic, the security wait was nothing, compared to OC. The car rental hadn’t been direct billed. OK.

So, the past day-easy flight to Raleigh, got my bags (Erika was betting it would get lost), got my car, drove to Durham, took a wrong turn, but found a Trader Joe’s!, circled back, found the hotel after ANOTHER wrong turn, checked in, ate dinner, called Erika & the kids, went to sleep. Up, ate, set up net access (Linux is crunchy-you need to put in the gateway IP, so I had to go to the front desk and ask), prep. Called Emerson Waldorf School-the admissions lady was sick, but I was able to get a tour from the administrator-many pictures-it seems like a cool place. Back to room, lunch, dress, interviews all afternoon. It went pretty well-my answers all seemed pretty good, and I got along well with everyone. Back to room, changed, Starbucks, dinner, room. Wrote thank you letters. Sleep.

11:03 am-Sitting in Atlanta, waiting. They moved the gate to one that was a walk, and a walk. More thank you letter stuff. Gotta compose emails too.

8:46 am pst-In the air-I have 25 mins of battery. Finishing up thank you notes.

Listening to: King Crimson (aaaah, a fully charged iPod!), Diamanda Galas, Legendary Pink Dots, Art of Noise, Dead, Slaughter (how the hell did THAT get on here??? they totally think they’re Zep…), Beck, Moby, mystified, King Crimson, Zappa, Sneaker Pimps, Talking Heads, Pink Floyd, Brand X, LPD, Lili De La Mora, Ghana, Hilliard/Garbarek, Roger Eno, Residents, Glass, Los Lobos, Rostropovich, Rage, Soundwalk 05, Beethoven, Shakti, Tool, Flaming Lips, Genesis, Rush, Pigs in Space, War, Minister (dumb-skipping), Al Gromer Khan, Eno/Byrne, Material, Tool

9:14 am-On a plane, going to Raleigh, North Carolina. I have a job interview with Blue Cross Blue Shield. I’m excited. They flew me out there, paid for everything. I hope that means that I’m going to get the job. Erika is very excited too, and we’ve been looking at all the stuff you need to look at. Houses are cheap, there’s a Waldorf school (private and expensive), a gamelan ensemble close by, my sister is a long drive away. We’ve been spending the last week planning the move. It’s a huge job. OK.

To recap-I’ve skived on this. Actually not a lot happening-the news about the interview, met a few recruiters, kids, doing very little at work other than look for a new job. (I’m getting laid off end of March) Visit storage, shop, go to the jacuzzi, kids to school, no church. I got a check from Lassu. Kids stayed home Monday. The phone interview with the ad agency in Minneapolis was a bust. Erika’s car needed brake work, and there went the check from Lassu-that and buying a new suit-all I have is a nice sport coat-not going to work for an interview. No more t’ai chi-the kids are doing Othello and need the time to practice. Hopefully the new school will want a t’ai chi and computer instructor…

4:42 pm (edt)-Waiting for the next flight in Atlanta. Whoopee. Flight was OK-read my book, stretched, chatted with my neighbor, bitty meditation, no boobies, to quote Fripp. I guess it’s the saw: if you don’t see the booby, you’re probably it… Bumpy on the way down. I’m finishing “Four Arguments for the Elimination of Television”. It’s scathing-we all need to throw our TVs out the window. Today.

10:07 am-The second of these meetings. A phone thing at noon. A thing at Starbucks yesterday. T’ai Chi-played a little ball thing-hopefully this will learn them-they’re disgruntled too. Work, etc., Matt’s excited about homeschooling. Not much else.

5:12 pm-Time to go home-2nd meeting was a bust-tomorrow, same time. Other things arising from the original event. We shall see.

Daily posting-3/3/2008

2:05 pm-In a meeting, one of the last of these…Not gonna miss it. Prolly get other ones once the arising arises. OK. The weekend-visit parents Sat-fondue, webcam chat with Holly, drizzly, long drive home, no church Sun., hanging out. Kids to school today, indoor kite demo for the 7th graders, at work, phone calls, meeting. Picked up the first part of the new Nine Inch Nails quad album for free-pretty cool-one of those things where if you like it you’ll want to buy the rest. Adrian Belew plays on it, too. Burned a few more DVD’s. Like I’ll ever use any of it… Erika just pulled Matt from school. Legal notice of arising-ripped off, again.

2008/3/2

At a basketball game. Sneak into the winning locker room, chat with Shaq?. There’s a huge line of reporters and people who want to talk to them. I try to leave and some guy starts asking questions about how I got there. I get away from him and leave the normal way, start to walk to my car. I go outside a fence, and watch some guy from work cut through the fence with a pocketknife like butter.
Walking around outside, find some odd thing-pull a thick red fiber off it. Go to a lab and try to find a good microscope to look at it. Find a fancy one and fiddle with it to get the fiber in the right place to see it. The handwork! teacher from school comes over to help me. The microscope is a mini electron microscope, I guess.

4:05 pm-At work, again. Making progress on the arising, on several fronts. Not much else, work, home, t’ai chi, kids and baby, I tweaked my neck yesterday, lunch at Fascism Island with Erika. Driving to Pasadena tomorrow.

2008/2/26

In a car, driving up a hill with some big guy called “T”, we’re talking about a firmware? job. We go to his office and he gives me tickets to some college basketball game with his alma mater Georgetown. We go and it’s against Miami! We hang out and the kids run around.

Daily posting-2/22/2008

4:34 pm-Another quiet day-getting things wrapped up. We had a thing that looks like identity theft-someone bought a phone in our name. Erika called and got it resolved, we both got credit reports and put fraud alerts on.

Daily posting-2/21/2008

12:45 pm-Off to school to help someone sort through stuff. Not much happening. The arising continues, moving slowly. This will probably go slow for awhile, then fast, then end. Quiet weekend, no church, holiday Monday, kids off this week. Not much at work, other than handling the arising. Not listening to stuff, other than the Bardo in the car. Kids are fine, as is the baby. Erika is busy and alternately stressed and anxious. Gotta go.

2008/2/20

Outside, by a road. Walking around. See a plane-like thing flying, then bouncing off the ground. It’s coming closer. It lands in a tree, and there’s an alien sitting on a branch. He’s wearing a yellow flight suit and looks sort of like a gnome. I climb up, sit down next and start asking questions.
