My exciting life, this place
In a room with a bunch of people. Hear news of a big flood in India. Toss a ball around with Praveen G.
Going down a river in a small boat. Come out to the ocean and maneuver around a bunch of big ships in a harbor.
Walking with a girl into a house, dark room. Play around. Walk back out.
Walking through an office with Kris. We’re getting some stuff together for her boss. There are piles of paper everywhere. He walks in and she talks to him.
Hanging out with Judy. We’re getting ready to go somewhere. She’s working on a piece.
On a bus going up a narrow road. Really steep on both sides. The wheels are getting close to the edge, and we lean to try to keep on the road. It goes around a turn, and the road is falling apart on that side, down a cliff.
Looking at Earl’s van with lots of wiring. He has it going from the front to the back, with a lot of ports and different wires. He shows how the electrical is separate from the data. Look at a music rig-cool cabs and amps.
At 1023, look and there’s a big plane flying low. It passes, and makes a turn. It crashes, and fire and debris are coming our way.
Please tip the writer. Whatever amount you like-every little bit helps, and I’ll do a shoutout. We are always short of cash, especially with a big mortgage. Let me know if you or someone you know needs web design/development-my rates aren’t bad, and I’m more than pretty good at it. Java/database/AWS/UI too. ThankYouVeryMuch!
It’s fall, and very much fall here-trees losing their leaves, rain, chilly. We all like this weather-reminds me of growing up in Cleveland. I’ve been daydreaming about alternate life paths, one of which is not getting a job in London, getting one in Cleveland, buying my parents’ house when they left for L.A., and how that would play out. All sorts of dreams to remodel the house and property…marrying Judy… Anyways, a good way to fall asleep, daydreaming about that sort of stuff, and the things. Life goes on, day after day. Politics and global events are certainly fun-I’ve been reading articles from Foreign Affairs, much like I used to read Stratfor. I’m also getting daily emails from NY Times and Oregon Live so I’m keeping up, but trying not to let it infect my life-been there, blogged about it. I should pepper this with links, just because-done.
Weds., mid-morning. Got one thing done-woo-hoo! Light w/o yesterday-my shoulder is bothering me, so just bike, legs, stretch and t’ai chi. We’re trying to slow down our legs in t’ai chi. And one push move really makes my shoulder pop, plus any reaching. Gonna message the doctor-no response-just not doing arms.
Thursday morning. I’ve been waking up early, going back to sleep, and waking up to the alarm. This is hard. I retired one of my hats-a kippah from a Jewish store in Costa Mesa-had it for many years. Not much else-watched the new South Park. Otherwise, the usual…tidy, kitchen, dinner, laundry, TV.
And it’s Friday! Woo-hoo! Nothing planned, but it’s nice to not have to get up early. Time to write down weekend tasks. I should set aside time for practice and thinking/writing. Like it’ll happen. If I don’t veg out in front of the TV, it might. Starting back on cold weather weekend breakfasts-bagels in the summer, crock pot oatmeal and Japanese style rice with veg & bonito flakes in the winter. Almost lunch-got the task writing done-I love this pocket-sized notebook-trying to figure out what to do with all the notebook type bits I have. S is going to Opal Creek next week for outdoor school, so I think we’ll spend the weekend getting prepped for that. Time to go.
Monday, noon. Busy weekend, got stuff done, and S prepared for outdoor camp. Still doing light workouts. Watched Avengers: Endgame-a fine ending to Phase 3. Picked up C & J from separate shows(!) And it’s been cold, so winter breakfasts were nice. And we made Cincinnati chili from a package. Not enough spaghetti, and we thickened the sauce, so not the real thing. It was a pumpkin spice chili package-we dropped the pumpkin, but it worked great for Cinci…
Thursday, late afternoon, I think I’m cooked. The usual sort of week, but quieter because S is gone. Skipped w/o on Tues., had an MSG loaded lunch and snack, felt odd and ill. Got a few things done. Busy at work. Need to reload my phone with music-deleted everything to put IOS 13 on there-iTunes was a bastard. Reading a pretty good SF book.
Friday morning-in a meeting. I think I’ll call this. S got back yesterday, was very tired. Everything else is going fine. M is back at school, C is driving more.
Trying to stay away from politics, but this: “A Category Error”.
Links/viddys-brighter side: nothing-didn’t really look hard. Not so bright: don’t even want to go there.

Going to somewhere else in the building. There’s a cute little puppy tumbling around and I go their way. They come back and drop a little figurine.
Driving through LB? Fly through an intersection, over a hill and down and bounce through another, and into the next lane, avoiding other cars.
In a room, meditating. Sink way down through layers of earth. Come to a room, they’re working on learning stuff. I’m new, and a beginner, so I get my tasks and talk to the others.
Trying to turn my car around, lightly bump into the one next to me. Look and there’s no damage.
At a concert at the side of the stage. They need to switch performers and everyone comes offstage. I work my way through the crowd, listen to them talking.
Out by the river, going to write a letter replying to Bjork. S asks me about it. Dad calls and talks about a work thing-I offer to help. Look at a oil cracking stack. Think about the various parts.
On the 2nd floor of a burning building. Check the door-it’s hot. Go to one window, then out on a ledge and around to look at where the fire is. Look down and think about how far it is to jump. Go back to the other side of the building and look at the tree next to the building to see if I can climb down it.

Here’s the “end of post” thoughts. I think I’m starting to shift. A new job, thinking about ways to organize things, I don’t know-time will tell this tale. Anyways, maybe it’s reflective of larger societal shifts-young activists, old people fucking things beyond all recognition, don’t know.
Thurs. afternoon. Time for lunch. Got a thing fixed, trying to get another finished. And I think I have it. Need to renew our lease-they didn’t send M and I our online renewal link. (it was in spam) Got E’s done.
Friday, noon. Pretty quiet here-just the sound of the HVAC. Trying to get things done before the sprint end, but no one is around to help me out. Lunchtime-got some of it. Made a small booklet for recording tasks, shopping, etc.
Monday, noon. Busy doing stuff. Monday, after lunch. Cramming a late task in. Pretty lazy weekend-got 1/3 of my tasks done, but all the top ones. I hurt my shoulder at some point-if I reach for something it hurts, but not all the time. Skipped w/o Sun. E went & got the car serviced Sat., usual after that. Church Sun., C did some driving. He’s fine, except for rolling through stop signs.
Tuesday, mid-morning. Working through stuff. Have an app’t up the hill about the sleep study. Back. “Mild apnea”-a nice set of charts indicate that I snore when I’m lying on my back. I could get a thing to stop me from sleeping on my back or a mouth thing like E has, or a CPAP, or surgery. Don’t know how I’ll go.

Waiting in line at the post office with mom and S. Some folks we knew from Cleveland are in front of us. They wait for us. We go to the desk, and S says she needs to have her special card updated. The person puts a not in the inbox. Mom starts talking about stuff to the person. We leave and the people are in a circle to talk to us. I go to shake hands with one guy and he grabs my thumb. I try to twist out of it.
At some school. I grab a folding kite thing and run away with it-a few guys follow me. We go down a street or 2, through a yard, and get ready to fly it into a river that’s part of someone’s pool.
Getting ready to go, a small spider is following me. It builds a web across a chair and to the wall. I walk past and it tries to get me. I get some water, blow it out my mouth and collapse the web. Go into the other room and leave. Wait for the bus. A truck with buses comes and leaves. Finally a bus comes, but it’s a school bus. I get on anyways. It’s hot, but the driver turns on the heat. The driver goes up a steep hill and I think it’s not going to make it. She stops and picks up some people. A kid wants to sit, so I slide over to the aisle. He sits, then starts eating me out. I get mad, pick him up and put him in the aisle. There was someone else in the seat just by the window.
On the train. I get on-it’s crowded and I hang on. Some girl puts her arm around my waist to steady herself. I look at her and smile. At the next stop she steps away. I go to follow her.
In a field, climb up and tie a rope to a pole. I’m supposed to do all the knots, but there’s no way. I get scared and climb down the ladder. Someone gives me a tiny rope to tie the rest. I say it’s too short and walk away.

Monday morning, at work. Not much to do right now-waiting for task assignment, drinking coffee, folding cranes-I have all of them from when I was off work. Week end was as usual. Good w/o’s-I think I’m going to stop running completely-I’m just too achy the day after-bike and elliptical don’t do that. Tidied a little Sat., binz, libe, driving practice with both C & M-C missed seeing a turning car-luckily the car was going slow and saw C. Otherwise both are doing fine-C drove home last night. Church Sun., home, lazy, rainy. S was up late, will suffer today.
Weds., noonish. Trying to get things done, not happening. Good w/o-M only did t’ai chi-he’s stressed and didn’t eat much. Sleep study last night-woke up a bunch. Didn’t do much else-no tidying-C drove home a few times.
Thurs. afternoon-got new stuff to work on as the other stuff is blocked. Onwards. Not much else. Need a thing-not sure when that will happen-gamelan is indeterminate. Anyways. Yesterday was 9/11. Yeah, so that.
Friday morning, just out of the scrum. Now Friday noonish, got stuff done, but am blocked on the rest. Access issues-just don’t have all of them. Now after lunch-glad it’s Friday, though I’m behind. More politics-I must not let this blog descend into political commentary-it’s just too messy and crazy-making, but this.
Sat. evening, watching tv-face/off. Pretty quiet day-dishes, laundry, bins, libe, shop, dinner.
Monday afternoon, busy with SQL stuff. Skipped church Sun., lazy, shop, picked up C from Happy Valley and he drove home. W/o, dinner, bed, up this morning.
Wednesday listening to the scrum. Busy yesterday revising stuff. Watched ANW finale in Monday. One more today, and that should be it. I need to get back to my main task. Good w/o last night, tidy, kitchen too. Yummy dinner-I like burritos. Comes from eating Mexican and Chinese food from a very, very early age-in an alternate reality, my parents would’ve been beatniks. I’m an old hand with chopsticks for the same reason. If I had my way, I’d eat Chinese food every day. A wok and a rice cooker, that’s it-bowls and chopsticks. I think I’ll call it-started on another book, and that’s usually my signal to post. What’s the title?

At 30700, hanging out in the backyard with a bunch of guys from school. Walk back to the garden, it’s snowy and cleared out. I come up to a waterfall and walk through the pool below it.
On a plane, the pilot flies it really close to buildings and lands. We get out and go into a hotel to lay over. Call about getting the trip back set up.
In a small room, with a couple of people. I leave with someone and go out into the hall. There are a bunch of doors-go down the hallway to a big room. There are couches and a bunch of girls in lingerie. It’s a brothel, and I sit on the edge of a couch and wait for my friend. A girl is next to me and I lay down on the couch and she starts kissing me. We go outside and the whole family is there. We walk down to get into the car and an old lady wants to go somewhere.
Walking through the quad at some college. Look over, and a huge cruiser spaceship is falling and crashes. We see the huge cloud and parts flying. Run across the road and into an underground channel-parts are coming towards us. We try to get to the close side so we don’t get hit. Climb up and across the road.
Walk through a hotel that’s winding and skinny. Climb the stairs to the entryway and walk around.
Drive down King and back to a shop, see some mushrooms on the side of the road and think about coming back to pick them.
At home, Susan S and Todd F come over, and I get out my glass bong. Put it together, then fill up some hits. There’s parmesan cheese in it. It clogs everything up. Some old people come in the door, and the man is asking about a shaped rock. He shows it, and I ignore him. Go to clean the clog, and Susan asks about somewhere to go to get food. I say there’s a Chinese and a Mexican restaurant just down the road, but she wants chips.
In a car, going down a highway. The driver veers into oncoming traffic. I’m in the back, and he’s barely avoiding cars, then goes onto the side.
Walk into a cafe. Lady is talking Spanish and making tortilla something. Get food and walk outside.
At a grocery store, check out and look over things. I take my phone apart.
