3rd time’s a charm?

Well, this is iteration #3 of starting this entry-first one was out of memory, 2nd was a phish panic-I changed all my passwords for google.

Back from wedding travel, still feel odd. Reading The Psychedelic Experience, prompted by a conversation at the wedding. Really a very nice modern interpretation of the Bardo Thodol. I want to start making music, but no time-work, housecleaning, time with wife, etc., just eats it all up. No matter-I have all the right gear, so the time will arrive.

I don’t even want to think about politics. Sis made a blanket “no politics” at the wedding-we sort of ignored that, as we’re all fairly open-minded and liberal, at least us and the youngsters…We really did have some nice conversations-Sis’ older kids are old enough-same with the step-kids-had a nice convo about “420” beer.

The Recap: work, home, tidy, dinner, S tossed a fit because no Harry Potter, bed, up early-ish, train on tracks, so late in, trying to untangle a problem, didn’t. Gamelan-getting better at the busy complicated ugly piece, pretty much there on the Threnody. (this was us from the 30th Anniversary show) We got it on the NPR website too.

Home, dinner, bed, up and to work. Home, C’s birthday, lasagna for dinner and a gift card. Up, to work, home, lazy. Up Sat., shop, home, lazy. Church Sun., cleaning-the house is mostly clean, luggage and recyclying to go. S is being a brat. Bed, to work. Pretty repetetetitive. Home-pool time, dinner, S to bed, bed, up, to work. Whoopee.

Just got roped into a side project-no $$$, but good for the karma.

Home, dinner, reading, S to bed, tidy, bed, up, to work. FBI director got fired. People are saying it’s Nixonesque, but it’s actually less so, as firing an independent prosecutor is further down the gonna be impeached line than the FBI director is. Only time will tell.

In a gym, playing volleyball. I talk about how I was playing 2-man beach volleyball in Outward Bound in 1977. A couple is arguing about leaving-girl wants to leave, guy doesn’t. They start struggling, and the baby slips out of the backpack onto the floor. The guy topples backwards onto the baby. We yell “dead baby”.

Out in a rainstorm with Diane. We shelter under a small tree. She puts her naked butt in my face and I move over. I’m aroused in a big way.

At a skating rink. People are going around very fast. Someone skids out and the instructor asks what they could’ve done better. I say they need the optimal angle between the edge and the ice. A guy comes really fast, skids out and goes flying. I yell to ask if he’s OK and he is. Someone asks me about kite skiing and jumping and I tell them with a little demo.

At the Jadrych’s, looking around-I want to buy the house. The basement is flooded, so lots of sewer work is needed. Walk out and look at the house next door. It’s a burned-out shell-all the cool shiny aluminum is gone and it’s just a frame.

An exciting life? Really? Maybe a little.

Yeah, the title is still appropriate, because my life isn’t really exciting…you can be the judge of that.

The recap: home, tried to tidy a little, S to bed late, not happy. Missed the bus again, got picked up on the eastside, shop, dinner, bed. Gamelan, home, same ‘ol, bad traffic, S on Spring break, drama with C, missed a thing, E drove me to gamelan, show, getting sick.

And it’s a week later. I got the flu and spent the week in bed. I got some work done, but mostly sufferation-high temp, very sensitive skin, not a lot a sleep, upset stomach. Just no fun at all. Got better Thurs, day off Fri, lazy weekend-church, Sat. Market-Salem enjoyed Supadupa Marimba Bros-the music is so happy, and the leader works at Lewis & Clark-he played during the show last week. Didn’t sleep much-up and now at work. The week flew by, sort of-I was still a bit out-of-sorts, gamelan Weds, just not up for it, pretty day Fri., clean Sat.-house is in pretty good shape for the trip. Church Sun, lunch, haircut, dinner, bed. Up early-trying to get in extra hours before the trip. Work, home, dinner, S to bed, bed, up early again. I’m not sleeping very well because of the early rising. Work, home, packing, S to bed, more packing, bed, up. Wearing nice clothes for the travel. Panic about time entry.

OK, it’s Sunday night and we’re at the Omni downtown-the weekend has been frantic and occasionally stressful. I dislike traveling. To summarize: Thursday-work, Max to airport-met family just as they arrived, flight to SFO, then redeye to Atlanta, car, breakfast in Decatur, World of Coke, lunch at Johnny Rockets, drive, very tired, downpour, nice suite, get food, hang out at Sis’, bed. Friday: lazy, E & S to spa, zipline with boys & nephews, pick up E & S, big dinner, bed. Saturday: lazy, shop, wedding, reception, pack, bed. Sunday: breakfast at Sis’, drive, bigfoot museum, more drive, cnn hotel, get a nice suitcase for cheap at a Goodwill in the ‘hood, dinner, big ferris wheel w/S, bed. Up Monday, Waffle House, King Center, Carter Center, airport, flights, Taco Bell for dinner, bed.

Tuesday, and I’m back to the regular grind. C actually made it to school, M got his work done.

In a room with gamelan folks. Trying to cut Mindy’s hair, but it’s all uneven. I comb it and it’s perfect. She walks away and I ask her if she wants it uneven. Peter Gabriel is there at a table and we ask him if he wants to play a game with us.

I’m my room at 30700, arranging things-we’re moving? Look outside, there’s a 747 in the back yard at about 50 feet that’s moving very slowly. I go out onto the roof, look at it and realize that the aliens are here. Jump off the roof and float but not fly. After a bit I start flying, go up, turn and see the craft-it’s a saucer, lit on top. I start towards it, but can’t get close. Go up to try to get there another way.

Trekking to Everest, very snowy. Trying to show that you could continue on only one cross-country ski. Go out a few yards, come back almost skating.

In a yard with several big cats. They know us, and come to get food and hunt. We put odd masks on them before they go out. A big plane lands really close to where we do all this. The cats come back and we take off the masks. Go over and look at something.

What’s next-no idea what’s coming.

Presidential politics is in disarray-I have no idea how this will play out. We are in “post-truth”, and no one believes or even listens to the other side. This is a recipe for fractured disarray, and that’s what’s happening. Strong stuff is being written, but I don’t think it will matter. The people pulling the levers of state aren’t really interested in us. See “This Factory Was a Field” by Attack Attack Attack.

The recap: Hanging out at the Swedish center waiting for brunch-my heritage. Pretty cool place. S has a theatre thing, so we dropped her off. Worked on UI design yesterday, no cleaning. Powell’s, play, home, dinner, S to bed. Mon., Tue., upset stomach. UI coding. Weds., stomach better, forgot my coffee AGAIN. Pizza for lunch. Gamelan, taking on some new Lou Harrison pieces, remembered my coffee. Panic at home because the modem got unplugged. C on a date. Fri., tired. Amigos del Sol for dinner. Sat., work on UI design, ultraviolent movies, S to party and sleepover. Church Sun., C to friends’. Lunch, shop-new phone cases, pick up C, pizza dinner, S to bed, bed, up. C to new school.

Walking through my dark house. Turn the corner and see a gunman walking away. Turn the corner and he fires. I’m able to hide and wait until he comes my way.

Going on a trip with the gamelan to Costa Rica? We get there and the rooms aren’t ready yet. We hang out in the upstairs bar-I’m carrying a lot of stuff and drop some.

Hanging out with Veruca Salt-backstage? Go over and look at Louise’s guitar, it’s actually green bordered. It looks a little long and thin, but it’s really broken on the bottom, and jagged.

Default title (aka, no idea what the title should be)

The ides of March are upon us. Another admin potentate is spiraling. I don’t care-it’s all just a disaster and I’m trying to ignore it for now. I need to get to work.

Timeline: Mon., up, work, trying to fix an issue with IE and PDF display. Home, bed, up, Tue., the same, Weds., got the issue resolved! Pizza for lunch, ran to catch the bus and messed up my ankle, gamelan, shop, home, dinner, bed late. M got his hair cut-he’s been overworked lately, but I think he’s managing-it takes time to get used to a college workload, even if it is junior college…

I’ve been sleeping badly-C opens the door when he goes to bed and wakes me up. Up today, work, home, sleep, up Fri., work, a co-worker’s cat got put down. Home, dinner, tired. Sat., up, laze, clean, out with E, shop, libe, eat, shop, home, make grilled cheese for kids, finish cleaning. With the pod, I should have a listening section again-I should do p23s5 or similar too.

Sun., E to church, church, home, shop. Been watching curling and skiing on TV. Harry Potter marathon too. To bed, up, to work, home, lather, rinse, repeat. Again on Tues., no gamelan Weds.-doing laundry and dishes regularly-hopefully this will continue-it makes weekend cleaning go faster. The iPod is super sweet… Same Thurs., same Fri. Looks like I’m here at work for a while…
Watched indoor cycling Fri., clean, libe, shop, lunch at a yummy Mexican place, home, S to pool party-very hot. Home, dinner, watch the new Samurai Jack, spring ahead, bed, up, to church. Dishes, laundry, put stuff in the outside closet, toss. So tired. S to bed, bed, up, forgot to make coffee until the last second, to work, home, another day…I’m cutting it mighty close to get the bus to work-I have a nice tracker app that shows real-time position.

And another day. Hard to get to sleep last night. Gamelan today. Thursday gone, St. Pats today-I have fond memories of a St. Pats at Miami with a girl named Sue. Quiet weekend-clean, S to theatre camp, lunch at Gaffer’s, pickup, home. Church Sun., shop, Chinese lunch, repacked outside closet. Mon.-hurried out the door. My toes are sparkly green. I have to post this, but I want to download the music list from my pod. The usual week, gamelan, no tidying, the GOP’s healthcare plan failed. E is sore because she overworked.

Walk into an office-first day. Get show around, talk to someone and get a handful of checks. Go back to my desk and sort them. A lady comes up with another man and says 1,people are saying they’re me.

In a tourist bus, sit in the front. Fiddle with the incense and stuff I bought. One of the sticks is lit. Earl goes in the back and starts lighting up. The guide sits next to me and I’m worries she’ll make me put out the incense of see Earl in the back. She actually likes it.

Riding over the Sellwood Bridge. Pass Dante O on the right and he’s pissed. Turn left and there are cyclists all over the place, crashing and falling down the hill. Some are hurt bad. A guy comes next to me and tells me this is normal. We pass a girl crashed and dead with a squished head, We keep going as someone is there already.
