Busy weekend, busy weekend.

What a busy weekend. I’m still suffering from the effect of eating junk all weekend long. Bleh.
No matter. So the problem was having gamelan on Friday and Saturday and camping all weekend. Just a long weekend-driving out to set up camp, back to gamelan, hanging out Fri. night, back to gamelan Sat. am, driving out to camp Sat. pm, not sleeping, driving back has left me pitifully dribbling, to coin a phrase.

Getting a sound board ready for a show. Testing out the lines, but there’s a bunch of crosstalk between signal inputs. The block holding the inputs is sparking and nasty. I get it working.
In a theater, leave to get in line to see Obama. I discover my tie is torn and get another one. Get back in line as Obama arrives.

Camping trip trip

I think I’ll post today. Trying to integrate the stuff from the camping trip trip. It’s been pretty much a normal week, though we’re out of cash. Drop a few coins into the tip jar if you can. Thanks in advance-we really appreciate it.
Here’s the recap. We went camping last weekend. It was mostly rainy, though it stopped Sat and Sun morning. Colin was sick, Erika came out Sat afternoon, and promptly went back with a sick Colin. It poured Sat night.
I sat out both nights in the dark and contemplated the universe. I have a page of good stuff, and a bit more left unrecorded. Too wild and unverifiable at this point-basically about climbing up and down the ladder. The page I did is an elaboration of the folding stuff, moved into the 3rd dimension-basically a record on a spindle and how the cross is a slice of that. Also two exercises for tuning up and balancing things.
We got back and washed and dried all the gear. Uneventful week, though I finally realized I have a conflict with the gamelan intensive and the 3rd grade camping weekend this weekend. It’s resolved, though. Colin spent the night at Geercrest farm with the class Thursday and promptly melted down Friday. I rode to school with Matt in Friday and sort of worked from home. Matt is getting his tonsils out-it’ll only cost $100-woo hoo! Took Salem to preschool Thurs. too. She’s well settled in there. Cleaned house over the weekend-put away all the clothes and am working on maintaining things the best I can. So far so good. Now the garage and the yard. I’m getting a steady but small supply of pears (not like last year), and I got a cheap juicer at the Goodwill so I’m taking the nasty ones and juicing them along with the fruit and veggie leftovers from dinner-a nice breakfast drink. Now I need to exercise more. Maybe tonight.
Some powerful voices coming out against our culture of distraction. This is pretty powerful. Big mudslide in Mexico, Jewish settlement deal expired, can’t see much else, though there is always more. More, more, more, more, more, more, more, and yet more. Finally, one last thing and this. Sorry about the link tear.
On a side note-This is pretty cool. Harlan Ellison is dying, or so he says.

Trying to take a shower? and people are there. I get undressed, but Bonnie is there so I cover up and sit on the floor. Finally I get in the bathroom, close the door and see people through the window. I go out and there’s a party-Barry Rothschild is playing a guitar solo-very pedestrian. I go into the other room and look for the kids. There are a bunch of glass walled rooms, but no kids. Up above some chick bumps the glass wall with her computer and it shakes.

Walking along the channel, find out I’ve been elected Governor of California. I look at the news and it’s true. Go to office building, meet Arnold. He gives me advice. Talk to my new assistant, we go up in a small elevator and I make jokes about my wife being upset and how I’m aroused. Walk back down to the garage and overhear conversation. Think about how to fix problems and structure things.

2010/9/25

9/25In a cab-the other guy stops and gets out to get something. There’s a jet circling low, then backwards. He stops and asks me if I’m someone else. I say no and he asks to see my boss. Rony comes up.
Going up to some place with a big lawn and a nice building. Go out and see it’s right next to the Queen’s house.

2010/9/24

At a club, working through an acoustic guitar part. I have to read music and I’m nervous. I walk around to find the leader and they’re having some sort of other show.

Another week

Get to leave early-Friday and camping this weekend. It’s going to rain, but no matter-it’s Portland, after all. Not much happening-rummage sale last Sat-we emptied the van and took a bunch of tables back, which made us heroes. Cleaned up everything except clothes. Mathias rode to school a few days-he enjoys it. There was an opossum in our garage-I tried to scoot it out but it hid better-a line of cat food out the door seemed to work. Salem went to preschool 2 days. Colin and Erika got vaccinated, Matt may have to have his tonsils out. I didn’t go to gamelan-which makes me sad.
The quran didn’t get burned, which is progress. A gas pipeline burst in SF, causing the usual death and destruction. Ah, our aging infrastructure and the “drown it in the bathtub” politicians.

Watching some guys work-they pull cable and I start to think they’re up to no good. Walk back and a girl is with me. One of the guys comes over and we push him down and get his wallet and the money. We run and they chase us. We get away and I walk and sit down against a wall and put my hat down. Feldy recognizes me as he walks by in a group. I try to hide more, but give up and go with a group to a club, then leave and go back to her house. She’s relieved to see me and I go upstairs with her.

2010/9/12

J.D. is asking for directions to Providence Hospital, I look and call to ask where the girl is, the operator hints it to me. We go, then end up at a party. It’s dark and late, I’m sitting on a couch and falling asleep. People are giving me a hard time.
Helping Marybelle get her resume together. I ask her to list all her jobs and what she did. She gives me her old one. I think about the guy who survived 9/11 by getting into the bunker at the bottom. I see him in the antechamber and the tower is coming down, then they let him into the bunker. He’s working for Fox News and I look at the website.

2010/9/11

Upset at something, throw stuff against the wall.
In a show, they’re setting up and I’ve got my guitar, going through the licks. I try to talk to the music chick, but there’s a crowd of kids around her. They’re building the set-all sorts of freaky sculptures.

2010/9/10

Driving down the freeway, jump off to avoid the police, then back on. Go to a building, get inside-we’re taking it over. Lots of people around-one takes a crane and whirls it around-the top comes off and crashes into the building. We go back and there’s a lot of damage but no one hurt. We go across a wood bridge that’s falling apart-hard to cross, but we get there.
In a grocery store, get some stuff, then go back for more. Debate someone about how to make receipts not have line items on them. I think about it and a kid blurts out a way. I think some more and talk about hashing.
In a small bedroom with Erika, someone comes in and says we have guests and says I should get on the floor. I do and start to get dressed. They come in and we talk about going to brunch.
Go to a dinner theater-I go in and there’s no one I know. I crouch down and scoot to the exit and leave. Walk through the porch.

Looks like the 2 week posting schedule is holding. It’s just SO busy. And it continues-another 1½ hours just disappeared.  Not to worry-I think it’s a function of aging too. OK, so the past two weeks are again, partially eventful and uneventful. I’m thinking these things happened (I don’t write things down anymore…): church-they destroyed the preschool, school started yesterday-I took the day off, we looked at a preschool for Salem, got a copy of Roller Coaster Tycoon and everyone plays it a lot, gamelan-skipped this week, we’re upping the intensity now, went to Sat. Market, school rummage sale-poked through our stuff, work-busy fixing things that have been broken for years, trying to look forward too.

A crazy preacher in Florida is going to burn Korans on 9/11. Real smart, that. Even the administration thinks this is a bad idea. This, if I could find the link is still relevant. And he canceled it. Couldn’t take the pressure, I guess. Jim Jones wouldn’t’ve canceled. Not much else-Obama declared combat operations over in Iraq. Wait, I thought that happened already… Many fires, but I haven’t seen much about SoCal. hmmm. Another oil platform in the Gulf caught fire.

Flying kites, trying to get one going-people are watching.
Walk down to my seat, go back to get a red gameboy from under the other seat. The organ isn’t working, girls pump the bellows. Walk out and stop to chat-someone likes the cheese I stole from the table and eats some.

2010/9/1

At a kite thing, looking as some guys put up stacks. One gets tangled, flies away, then breaks some lines. Somebody recovers it, and I start to untangle things. Steve LaP is quizzing people and I start to put together one of his kites-I fiddle with it, ask for parts, which are in a pouch.
In New York, trying to cross the street, but the lights are all pointed funny and there are several streets running in. I finally get a green, a truck comes but turns. I walk across, but Matt stays behind, then catches up. We try to cross again and I go up the street then cross. We go into a store/bar, sit down, Matt starts talking to someone. I go outside, help an old lady, come back in. Matt has a drawing and a drink for me.
