10:31 am-Waiting on a file search through a server-slow. At least it refreshes… So, finished up one cr yesterday, another is almost done. Sent out a bunch of linkedIn and faceBook stuff, updated us8025. Lunch, gassed up, home. Matt was in trouble. Erika got a sprinkler-set it up, Erika watched the neighbor’s newborn, skated with Colin, bed, chatted with Matt. Dinner, TV, tidy kitchen. Moved a cabinet to get the car in the garage. I have to shift more to get both cars in.

10:11 am-Tuning this same query-this is it. No more. (10:51-looks good) To recap. Not much this weekend-quiet. Friday-work, home, watering, mom to the creek, dinner, to bed. Up Sat-Erika & mom went to the market. We stayed home and did not much. Blackberries are ripening. Took mom to the airport, went to Ikea, home, dinner, bed. Up, no church, to the creek-herded crayfish. Neighbor boy came with but had to leave. Cleaned up the garage, moved stuff from the living room, hung a flag outside, Erika went to the local market, dinner, skated with boys riding bikes, bed, Matt & Colin are in separate rooms-need to get that arranged. Up, upset stomach, to work.

11:54 am-Waiting on a query, again, again, again. <sigh> My sister-in-law got a job, but it’s going to be a brutal commute. OK. Yesterday-work, home, cleared brush, dinner, playing outside with neighbors, to bed. Boys were up and down throughout the night. Tough. Up late today-very tired. To work, slowish. This first runs of the query were pretty peppy, fixed an error. This one is slooooow.

11:14 am-Waiting on a query, again. Different query, though. Trying to see if an issue found in QA will ever be seen in production. I have another one of those-the folks who run the databases don’t refresh the dev and test databases often enough. No matter. OK. Yesterday-lunch, meeting, got a release out, home, dinner, kids to bed, Matt did better, but still having trouble getting to sleep, we got to bed a bit earlier too, woke up late, to work.

1:27 pm-Waiting on a query. Less busy. Yesterday-late, trying to get everything done-2 cr’s are needed ASAP. I got 2 posts into mySpace, and I need to finish 2 more. Home-kids, work on cabinet, to bed, hang out, TV, up late. Up today, Colin wanted to watch Balto II early, so he did. To work, finished up 1 cr, had to revisit it, worked on another, researched a 3rd, one more to work on and back to the start. Time for lunch and a meeting. Need to practice more-guitar, stick, piano and drums.

I was listening to KBOO on the way to work last week-they had an interesting conversation with Sara Robinson. She’s written an essay called America’s Energy Empire. While this isn’t particularly new ground, she does present a compelling case that needs to be more widely heard. And acted upon. By you, you and you.

There’s also this from Democracy Now!. Military censorship at its best-the echoes of ‘Nam are getting louder. Where is the Iraq Lt. Calley? I’m reading a thing on Stratfor about withdrawals, and I heard another thing on kboo with Jeremy Scahill about how there’s no way we’re getting out of Iraq-with a HUGE embassy, people needing to be protected, and Blackwater. Plus the oil. It ain’t happenin’-no matter what comes out of the mouths of politicians. Like a former boss said about writing software-“when you give a date, you tell a lie.” Plus the regional players want us there. The problem is that they’re drained, we need to redeploy to Afghanistan, and it’s an election year. Blecch.

And a sermon about UUism-we’re nearing the time to reformulate our Principles. The crux of the sermon is about 2/3rds the way down. This is important stuff-one of the problems with religion and spirituality in general is the way beliefs and operating principles get accreted over time, ossify and turn into dogma. UUism has tried to get beyond that by making them optional from a creedal standpoint, and by periodically refreshing them as well. This one is great-wordy, but great. Wordy can be fixed. Great can’t.

2:26 pm-Tuesday-busy. Several CR’s are activating and in process. Yesterday-work, lunch at Costco with the family, more work. Home, new cabinet, set up mini altar, kids watched a movie at the neighbors, to bed, dinner, a bit of drum practice, bed late. I need to stop that. Up, to work, delayed meeting. Finally getting a post together for mySpace.

10:23 am-Another Monday-I’m tired. Maybe it comes from going to bed at 1:30…OK. Friday ended up quietly. Home, dinner, kids to bed, started cleaning the Stick and case. Salem wanted to help. Up Saturday. Didn’t do much-played around-it was smoky, and we thought our neighbor’s house was on fire-they were having a baby at the time. It turned out to be nothing. Odd, though. Finished cleaning the Stick, put it back together, checked it out-as usual, the stereo is not 100%. No matter. Up Sunday, no church. Out neighbor’s son was over a lot. Did some yard work, hung the prayer flags, put in an outlet cover, the new baby visited, our owner visited and picked up the cat. The boys want another. Colin is very specific. Matt continues to have issues with listening and doing. Trying to set up the altar. Got the 8 treasures up-I need to find MY 8 treasures hanging. I have no idea where it is…I haven’t seen it in years-it should be in the keepsakes box. I need to check. I’m out of memory and into swap land-time to close this up before things bog down completely…

10:28 am-I didn’t want to get up today-but I did.

So, yesterday was: work, lunch, work, get fuel, traffic, home, dinner, kids to bed, check on amp (it’s OK-put it up on wooden blocks and it’s fine), set up effects loop, now to clean out the Stick. Had to pay tuition-ouch-I thought it was next month! Played Heaven and Earth with the kids-challenging. Bed.

Matt crawled in again. He needs to start shadow/initiation work, find mentors and begin separation. He’s 9, which means puberty is looming, and he’s starting to show signs of needing self-discipline. Can you tell I’m reading about raising boys?

4:43 pm-Friday-time to go home-got the optimizer key, found about the import problem, went to Costco for lunch. Need to put up our tent for the boys to sleep outside.

7/10/8 12:36 pm-Went to an offsite meeting at a local bar yesterday afternoon, home, dinner, kids to bed, sort through stuff, replace tubes in amp, test-got zapped in a ground loop, found the Mirage diskettes, tested it and the guitar-now to get the outboard effects going. And find that damn ground loop-OUCH! Up today-Matt crawled in. To work-get something done after 2 days of meetings. Going historical with the dreams, need to finish up the 2 mySpace blog posts and post an old essay.

12:32 pm-Not much happening-Erika’s mom is visiting. Recap: Monday-work, home, get out my stuff and try to go through it. The boys are having a hard time getting to sleep. Dealing with kids and baby and keeping the house up, etc. We killed some grass, and I’m trying to keep that going. Need to water more. Tues-work, meeting, lunch, a new hire thing-got a copy of The Spiderwick Chronicles out of it. Home, dinner, Erika cleaned out the fish pond. Boys to bed-Matt stayed up late. Up today.

I really want to start in on the music thing more-my studio is almost set up-I need to find my Mirage diskettes and put the amp back together. I also found a tape that has some cool sequences on it and the thing that Chris Martin did after the Will Rogers event. I need to drop those into digital, extract, put on the recorder and send a copy to Chris. Plus practicing, taking care of the house and kids, baby, going through my stuff, etc. Lots to do, no time. I was able to get a little in on Monday, but the family came and got me after a bit.

11:55 am-4 Th of July weekend. I was having chest pains on Thursday & I went to the hospital-and I’m absolutely fine, other than having a bit low potassium. That’s easy to fix… Erika totally busted me for not telling her when it was happening. Friday-slept in, hang out, did a bit of yard work, got fireworks, went to a local to watch the big ones with our neighbors-listened to a band, back home, lit half of them. Slept in Sat, more yard work, lit the rest of the fireworks with the neighbors, Colin was on restriction, it sprinkled a bit. Church Sun., farmer’s market, an antiques place, home, more yard work. To bed earlyish-Matt had trouble getting to sleep, up today and to work.

I want to go through all my stuff and start practicing and record some stuff and finish my MySpace blog entries. Tonight? Maybe.
