A lot of what Fall is about, as life slows down and contracts into Winter, getting ready for Spring/rebirth. Been thinking about what’s next, too. Didn’t watch the debate, though the moment with Kamala self-censoring was rich. Not much else, need to paint my South wall, refill the spa.

Friday (8/9) afternoon. Trying to get stuff done before the end of the day, and a quick after hours bit too. There’s a fire south of here, but the air quality isn’t bad. Not like the fires a couple of years ago where the sun was completely orange. Not much else-not looking forward to working out.

Tuesday (8/13) end of work. Busy getting ready for a lot of prod deployments. I dislike this immensely. The password stuff seems so useless. Same with the certificates. Oh well. It’s cooled off a bit. Did the usual over the weekend, but got to pull blackberries on Sunday, and Matt cut down some holly. I got a cool laptop messenger bag from my fave manufacturer. Time to work out-Salem is working afternoons, and I have to pick them up at 9. Doing the full 30-10-30 routine, and I’m still a bit sore.

Wednesday, have big prod deploys tonight and tomorrow too. Yuck. 13 touches and 2 restarts.

Thursday, last night went fine-only one job failed so far, and a few that were someone else’s who used the same username. Setting up for the deploy tonight. Had to skip gamelan because of it, but we’re taking a field trip to West Linn next week: String and Shadow.

Friday afternoon. Almost time to quit. Should’ve left hours ago, but we missed a password change, and I had to set it up and request the change-still need to deploy. And the deploy last night had a bad lambda that caused headaches. I’ll be glad when this week is over, in like 10 minutes. Go to the gym, then drink. Like I used to at Miami. Good times, those. They had cheap Little Kings and wings at the Balcony. Drink, go home, pass out, get up and go out partying. Now it’s going to be work out, eat dinner, drink, take aspirin, clean up the house, prep coffee for the wife, brush teeth, go to bed.

Monday afternoon (8/19) Trying to get stuff done and plan for the next sprint. Been listening to Journey-mostly Gregg Rolie/Steve Perry-era stuff. Interesting listening to a rocket just about to take off-Gregg’s voice is so warm and smooth, and Steve’s is a race car, all tight and fast. And Gregg left just as that rocket took off-14 years on the road had burnt him out-success, than back to the beginning, then success again. Though I think when they started Journey they were already playing theaters, rather than clubs-no idea how they were getting around-usually you start in cars/vans playing clubs, then rv/bus/trailers playing theaters/ballrooms/music halls, then basketball arenas, then stadiums. Not much this weekend-working out, shopping, we had a quick storm Saturday night, breakfast with friends Sunday morning. Bought a bunkie board for our new bed frame-prolly need to put 2×4’s in the middle to support it as well-I was thinking of just getting 2 sheets of plywood, but didn’t-the guy gave me a discount on a mattress.. Need to update my “me over time” slideshow…also need to get a plumber in to look at the stinky shower, and pull the carpet and fix the floor in our bedroom. And the windows. <sigh>-the joy of home ownership.

Tuesday-time to be done. I hate this work with the password change-no one knows it, so I have to write the run book. I think I have it, but sometimes having a separate team do the prod runs makes things slow. We’ll see if tomorrow’s run succeeds. The other job hung too. Just endless frustration and hassles. The delivery had Erika’s old phone number, so I had to reschedule. It’s been 2 weeks of hassle, and I haven’t even gotten to the plumbing. And there’s no money.

Wednesday morning. Looks like the changes I made yesterday worked, but another job failed today, and it looks like code needs to change.

Thursday morning. Starting on some react/node stuff. Yet another job is failing. It never ends. Luckily the password stuff is ending, at least for this year. Correction: a whole set just got dropped in our laps. aargh. The puppet show last night was good-Salem loved it. Took them rather than a thing. Got the bedboard too-going to do that tonight.

Wednesday morning (8/28). We’re broke until next Thursday-Matt had to help.

Wednesday afternoon (9/4). A whole week passed like that-payday tonight! Took Friday & Tuesday off, did a bunch of work around the house, worked out Fri & Sun. It was nice to sleep in-our bedroom is coming together. Got the bed put up, gutter covers, a motion-activated light, washed the car, rearranged the shed. It rained hard for 10 minutes some evening, it’s starting to get cooler, but still hot-90 right now.

Thursday afternoon. It’s hot-too hot in the kitchen, sitting in the bedroom, finishing up work.

Friday afternoon. It’s still hot, but not as bad as yesterday. Trying to get a thing moving, another one hung, one thing did get working. Hard to concentrate when it’s hot in here.

Monday morning (9/9), trying to get stuff done. Had to ferry kids to and from Comicon at the convention center. Glad it’s not at the Expo center. The usual binz, shop, workout, etc. Went to a Pagan thing at Oaks Park-basically a witch/Ren Faire gathering-an ADF coven was there… There was a cute autistic girl running around the binz that I fancy, but I’m married and old…Mike from gamelan was there too.

Friday afternoon (9/13). Time to be done. Pretty quiet week-got stuff done, several apps on the new servers, jury duty yesterday-fail. Whole Bowl too-Claire had an interview next to Powell’s on Hawthorne. Fine workout, no gamelan, found my wedding ring-it was in with the Tiffany necklace I got for Kris, along with the black coral ring. Erika watched the debate with her friends. I think it’s time to call this.

Page 23, sentence 5: “Like nature’s winter, the saecular winter can come a bit early or a bit late.” The Fourth Turning is Here, “Finally, just when Scorpio was beginning to doubt his old friend’s sanity, Clavain spoke.”, Absolution Gap.

Looks like the seasons are changing again, like they always do.
