What’s next-no idea what’s coming.

Presidential politics is in disarray-I have no idea how this will play out. We are in “post-truth”, and no one believes or even listens to the other side. This is a recipe for fractured disarray, and that’s what’s happening. Strong stuff is being written, but I don’t think it will matter. The people pulling the levers of state aren’t really interested in us. See “This Factory Was a Field” by Attack Attack Attack.

The recap: Hanging out at the Swedish center waiting for brunch-my heritage. Pretty cool place. S has a theatre thing, so we dropped her off. Worked on UI design yesterday, no cleaning. Powell’s, play, home, dinner, S to bed. Mon., Tue., upset stomach. UI coding. Weds., stomach better, forgot my coffee AGAIN. Pizza for lunch. Gamelan, taking on some new Lou Harrison pieces, remembered my coffee. Panic at home because the modem got unplugged. C on a date. Fri., tired. Amigos del Sol for dinner. Sat., work on UI design, ultraviolent movies, S to party and sleepover. Church Sun., C to friends’. Lunch, shop-new phone cases, pick up C, pizza dinner, S to bed, bed, up. C to new school.

Default title (aka, no idea what the title should be)

The ides of March are upon us. Another admin potentate is spiraling. I don’t care-it’s all just a disaster and I’m trying to ignore it for now. I need to get to work.

Timeline: Mon., up, work, trying to fix an issue with IE and PDF display. Home, bed, up, Tue., the same, Weds., got the issue resolved! Pizza for lunch, ran to catch the bus and messed up my ankle, gamelan, shop, home, dinner, bed late. M got his hair cut-he’s been overworked lately, but I think he’s managing-it takes time to get used to a college workload, even if it is junior college…

I’ve been sleeping badly-C opens the door when he goes to bed and wakes me up. Up today, work, home, sleep, up Fri., work, a co-worker’s cat got put down. Home, dinner, tired. Sat., up, laze, clean, out with E, shop, libe, eat, shop, home, make grilled cheese for kids, finish cleaning. With the pod, I should have a listening section again-I should do p23s5 or similar too.

Sun., E to church, church, home, shop. Been watching curling and skiing on TV. Harry Potter marathon too. To bed, up, to work, home, lather, rinse, repeat. Again on Tues., no gamelan Weds.-doing laundry and dishes regularly-hopefully this will continue-it makes weekend cleaning go faster. The iPod is super sweet… Same Thurs., same Fri. Looks like I’m here at work for a while…
Watched indoor cycling Fri., clean, libe, shop, lunch at a yummy Mexican place, home, S to pool party-very hot. Home, dinner, watch the new Samurai Jack, spring ahead, bed, up, to church. Dishes, laundry, put stuff in the outside closet, toss. So tired. S to bed, bed, up, forgot to make coffee until the last second, to work, home, another day…I’m cutting it mighty close to get the bus to work-I have a nice tracker app that shows real-time position.

And another day. Hard to get to sleep last night. Gamelan today. Thursday gone, St. Pats today-I have fond memories of a St. Pats at Miami with a girl named Sue. Quiet weekend-clean, S to theatre camp, lunch at Gaffer’s, pickup, home. Church Sun., shop, Chinese lunch, repacked outside closet. Mon.-hurried out the door. My toes are sparkly green. I have to post this, but I want to download the music list from my pod. The usual week, gamelan, no tidying, the GOP’s healthcare plan failed. E is sore because she overworked.

So, what’s next?

I have no idea. Flynn resigned, and the admin is bonkers-leaks abound, and people talking off the record, and just dumb decisions by inexperienced people. And the Labor Secretary nominee is gone. A classic case of I told you so…And a dam in NoCal is suffering from erosion-at least it’s the spillways and not the dam proper-they got everyone out just in case. Another sign of oh, it’s OK, don’t worry about it syndrome. Deferred infrastructure maintenance is killing us. And the guy tapped to replace Flynn turned it down-there’s some brains for ‘ya…

Nothing much new, going to my sister’s wedding in Atlanta at the end of April. Work Mon., Tues., Valentine’s-S got a huge unicorn, slept with it, to bed. Panic attack on the bus this morning-it was crowded and hot. I wasn’t sitting all the way in the back, where there’s usually a little more room. I took off my jacket and took a bunch of deep breaths and was OK. Left early, but the bus was late to home, so I was 10 mins late for S’s 3rd grade play. They all did great. C is failing almost all his classes. Dropped off S & E, gamelan, home, dinner, bed. Tired this morning. On a rush. Home, dinner, S to bed, bed. Let’s see, how many times have I written that???

Friday, the same. Talked to mom, she’s going to pay for the boys to come to the wedding! To bed earlyish, for a Friday night. Up, take E to a meeting, home, clean. Listening to CLD on YouTube on the TV. Pick up E, shop, home. Sun., to church, no E or S, home, Whole Bowl, shop, dinner. S to bed late. Up, to work-no people on the buses because of Pres. Day. Tue., same ‘ol, E got tickets to Atlanta. Weds., work, gamelan, home, C went to bed at 4am-aargh! Thurs., work, E, M, S came and got me-S wanted to see the office, spendy dinner at a bar, home.

Fri., the usual, home a bit early, lazy-didn’t want to clean. Slept in a bit Sat., went with E to Red, White & Blue-got an iPod nano 3g for $15! The play button sticks a bit. Fry’s-got the plug, stuff for E. Ate lunch at Sonic, drove to Woodburn to the outlet mall. Hassle parking, both in and out. Walked around, got a Pendleton blanket, E got shoes. Home, loaded up the iPod-took until 3:30. Sun., no church, cleaning. Got everything done, E got a tattoo. Dinner, made our bed, sleep.

Going, going,

…and we’re gone. Kaput. Stick a fork in us, as a democracy, we’re now flawed. What’s next? And how long will it take?

So, Mon., work, home, bed, Tues., work, home, bed. Keeping things clean. Weds., work, E picked me up late, home, quick dinner, gamelan, shop, home, bed. Thurs., the same.

I’ve been listening to The Lennon Claypool Delirium a lot lately. It’s super good. Check out the multitude of live sets up on youTube. Is psychedelic music coming back? I think so. Time to hop on that bandwagon-I have the gear now. Lotsa fuzzy guitars, feedback and analog synth-right up my alley.

Missed the bus, Thurs. PM, which has a nasty cascade effect-had to wait a half-hour for the last bus in the chain, at least the libe was open. Dinner, S to bed, bed. Icy today, school was closed. I was able to get to work no problem, though it was an ice rink by my house and at the train stop.

Sat., up, quiet, E went shopping, I cleaned-scrubbed the kitchen floor and cabinets. Very rainy. Watching Harry Potter on freeform. Sun., church, E isn’t feeling well, shop-new chains and food. Thought about a thing, didn’t. More HP. Had to go and get M dinner. Supposed to snow overnight, didn’t.

Mon., work, E went to Dr’s, then to the ER, then to the hospital proper with pancreatitis. We saw Linda R there too. So, work from home Tues and Weds., work, ferry kids, clean the kitchen and do laundry. Visited E with S, shop. Weds., the same, E home, gamelan. Thurs., again the same, M to Dr’s, shop for lasagna, prep, cook-it was delicious. E had a bite, and she shouldn’t’ve. S to bed, clean up, bed. Back to work Fri., cancel a tubing outing tomorrow.

Sat., quiet morning, school folks pizza party, shop, home, lazy, bed. Sun., skipped church, cleaning, S to bed, update storage unit, add CLD to phone, to bed late, up early-no fun there…

The new year, just so much fun.

I’m feeling better, now, but E and S still have it, E more. This is the norm. S got better, E worse. It’s been quite a week-Tues night was a 10 year snowstorm, and Portland shuts down after that. I got home easy, and took my laptop. Nothing opened Weds and Thurs. M and I went to the store Thurs. afternoon, but that’s it. S played outside Weds., I worked, and today I’m at work. It wasn’t bad getting in-cold toes, though. Hardly anyone here, back home, dinner, bed. Up Sat., cleaning, but very tired, didn’t do much at all. Went out to get food and that was it. Same Sun., but I got more cleaning done-full bathroom, laundry, dishes. S to bed late, to bed. Hard to get up, but pretty easy in. It’s supposed to thaw tomorrow. There was supposed to be an ice storm, and it wasn’t. E fell down and we spent the afternoon in the ER-she had a concussion, but it took too long so we came home. Dinner, S to bed, bed. Woke up to the sound to water hitting the metal cover outside our window-kept me up for a long time.

Work was fine, the usual getting home-things are thawing out. E is still not well-she went to the Dr’s and got a shot. Dinner, S to bed late. C is struggling. Skipped gamelan to help out E. Up, to work, work, home, dinner, S to bed, bed-staying home Fri. to miss the protests on the way home.  Up, took S & C to school, work, laundry.

I’ve been dwelling on climbing Mount Everest and the ’96 disaster, and subsequent deaths-read both books. I don’t remember it when it happened, but it’s fascinating. It just seems insane to me, but I can see the allure as well.

Protests were as expected, took E and S to the train so they could march, libe, drive around Sellwood, gave up, home, emptied car, pick up E and S downtown, shop, home, get dinner, dinner, S to bed, bed. Up, skipped church, E meeting, watched skiing, cricket on now. Dinner, S to bed, bed, up, work, home, same ‘ol. C went to bed at 4. Work, meeting, home late, S to bed, dinner, bed, up. I love being able to write this on the bus.

Work, E picked me up, dinner, gamelan, home, bed, up, to work. And now it’s Monday-Thurs. and Fri. were pretty much the same-C looked at another school, but I think he’ll stay because one of the teachers really likes him. Watched the first 2 “Langdon” movies, Sat., cleaned, the latest Langdon movie, church Sun., E meeting, shop, dinner, same ‘ol.

Lots of protests over immigration ban, and a stay-we’ll see how this plays out. Some are speculating this is a prelude to martial law.

Will 2017 be better?

I have no idea. Celebrities will continue to die, politics will continue to be a shitshow. What could make it worse? Life will likely go on as usual.

I have this week off-I need the money, but that’s the way of Daimler. The house is pretty clean, but there are a few things I still need to do. And I didn’t-shopped with E, failed to get reservations at Timberline, S to bed late. So, no skiing today-likely Sunday. At least the house is cleaner.

Thurs., quiet, get C a new phone, shop, home. Ski Sunday-it’s going to snow Saturday night. Big fun there. Wedding drama is over-we’re not going.

So, went to bed @ 10:30, didn’t fall asleep until late, up at 6:15, left at 7:15 fully equipped. Got into the snow, put the chains on, super loose and failed very quickly. Luckily we were able to get on a bus and got up only a little late-S got into class, M didn’t, so I spent the morning teaching him-he picked it up right quick. Got S, ate, spent the afternoon teaching S and M went off on his own and promptly got into the weeds. I put S in kids, rushed over, didn’t find him, back up, got S, M turned up. Returned everything, waited for the bus for 2 hours, stuck, then bad traffic, got the car, drove through a blizzard but the roads were fine, picked up E and C, home, S to bed. Whew! Good skiing, the rest, a big mix of good and bad…I wish it had worked out more smoothly-I didn’t get much skiing in .

Monday-lazy, went to Oaks Park and skated in the afternoon-some expert told me what to do-I told him I had been skating since I was 9-I don’t need his help. Home, bed, up and working at home Tues.-E and S to Great Wolf Lodge-S has a temp, but she seems OK-and she had a great time. And of course, then I got the same temp. Bad all through Tues and Weds., back to work Thurs., still sick. Home, lazy, sleep, same on Fri., ice storm and snow Sat. & Sun.-still not 100% and didn’t do much around the house-just sat in bed clothes.

Up Monday-school is closed, but Clackamas CC is open, so M has to go to classes (the prof canceled).

Solstice, Christmas, New Years’. Ugh.

Monday at work-so, so tired. Maybe coffee will help. Not enough.

OK, so to recap: Fri., finished work, easy home, no gamelan party. Sat., lazy, cleaned a little, don’t remember anything else. Sun., church, sold the TX, libe, Fry’s, Sonic, shop. It’s still snowy and icy, mostly because the temps have stayed low. Rainy today and warmer. Easy in-changed my route a bit-only one switch, same time. I might have to work part of next week-this is not a bad thing. New route home-missed the bus, so major pain. Dinner, M to thing, S to bed. Wash, rinse, repeat. Tue., same thing-the route home was a mess-everything running oddly. Dinner, S to bed, bed. Weds., see Tues. Took my regular route home, much less lateness. Dinner, S to bed, bed. Working through my past dream journal-currently in ’96-have to go to ’90-long slog.

Dreamed about alien visitation last night-contact, no communication-all I said was my name, didn’t hear anything. There was a little gray alien in a column of light that I assume was a transport device. I used to have these “plane crashing, aliens visit” dreams about once a month-now they’re sporadic. I think it’s more to do with higher worlds trying to connect with my waking consciousness rather than straight alien visitations, but who knows with dreams?

So, home, dinner, S to bed, bed. Woke up early, left early, to work early. Finally got the official work reorg and…nothing really changes except my boss’ boss. Left early after a nice chat with a co-worker. Home, dinner at Izzy’s, drive around, ice cream, home, S to bed. Tired, then not. Up, hang out drinking coffee, tidy, laundry, church, fondue, S to bed. Up late, S got us up at 7, opened presents, clothes for me, church, beignets, tidy, nap, dinner, S to bed. Moved my pi wordpress to the x10 site.  Watched the last Harry Potter and the extras. Up late, sleep in, hang out, tidy a little, line, shop, Whole Bowl, got some guitar references and a uke book for S. More last Harry Potter extras. Tue., fam visited Sally Showman, I cleaned, plus a little of my stuff. Dinner, movie. S to bed.

Christmas is close, plus a snowpocalypse.

And we have the decorations out, but no tree yet. I think we have most of the presents for the kids.

Another weekend over. Pretty quiet-Fri. was home, S to bed, very tired. Asleep early. Sat., up, school meeting, E to hairdresser’s, S to friends’ and the Nutcracker. Libe, sat and read, get E, lunch at Pizzicato, browse, shop, bins, pick up S, dinner, S to bed, watch drone racing. Up Sun., skipped church, cleaned the house, watched more drone racing. E and S home, clean more-wash, vacuum, tidy, dishes, dinner, fold clothes, S to bed, and here we are. To bed late, up on time, to work, work, one of the people in our group is leaving. I discovered that E’s reading glasses work for my right eye only (my left eye is fine up close, bad long, and the right one is fine long), so I took out the left lens, and now reading, phone and computer screens are super crisp.

So, home, sis got us a Christmas gift that got recalled, dinner, S to bed, check out the Mirage (working great), laundry and dishes, bed. Up, missed bus, alternate route, work. Gonna snow tomorrow afternoon. Home, dinner, S to bed, laundry-really the same ‘ol…

And Weds. was awfully fun. Got to work, work, started snowing about 1ish. Left about 2:30, thought taking a different route home. Big. Mistake. When Portland gets snow, everything locks up, and in this case, everyone left for home at the same time-the map was a sea of red. I sat on a bus for an hour to get to downtown. Another hour to get to another bus. That bus went onto snow route, so I got off and walked to get another bus. Waited, and waited, so I walked. 3 miles in a snowstorm. Nice to have those crampons. The 3 mile walk was the shortest bit of the trip. It was nice, though, quiet, and I was properly dressed. Brought back memories of walking back from the Jadrych’s in high school. M likes it too. Saw one big crash at the bottom of a closed hill. And a jackknifed truck at the bottom of the hill by our apartment.

Working from home Thu., got the car from a friends’, shopped, home, work. The usual work from home. Going out to get a laptop for E-failed. It’s getting slushy. More work, dinner, S to bed. Woke up early, E was snoring, so no sleep. Easy in, snowy and icy, but crampons rock. Work.

I have a big list of things to do, and a gamelan party tonight.

Snow? Snow! No snow… Snow! and Ice.

So they said it was going to snow, but no snow. Well, maybe a little in the air, but mostly rain.

OK, so this weekend: clean, shop, church, libe. Quiet on Fri., made my bus. Cleaned Sat., E slept very late. Got the porch cleaned up-they sent us a nastygram. Pulled the xmas stuff out of the closet. Late up Sat., the thing. Church Sun., shop w/E, all over. Tired, so tired from shopping. Dinner, S to bed, work, bed, up today, no snow. Another work day, home, phone meeting, dinner, S to bed, laze, tidy, bed. Up again, another day, kind of restless, having trouble recalling my dreams-need to write them down right away.

OK, so Weds.-very cold, potluck at work-the container for the fruit salad opened all over the bottom of my bag and my pants. Aargh-had to clean it up. Work, potluck-ate too much. Hard to work, but got stuff done. E picked me up and it took an hour to get home. Gamelan-cleaning the room, drinking beer. Home, snack, bed. Up this morning, WFH. No snow until 11, then a bit, then more, then freezing rain. Got work done. Phone demo up next-done-everyone likes it. Dinner, S to bed, work on WP upgrade, changed theme. To bed, up-no school, S up early. Left early, just caught the bus, no train, got off to go to the 75, no 75, 33 to 99 to downtown, 77 cancelled, walked to the 15, just made it. E gave me crampon-like shoe slip-ons-like chains for your feet. They work great. No one else from my group is here. Got stuff done.

This is pretty cool. I like cool maps-for many years I had the State of World Atlas, they updated it, and need to do it again. I have a few things to do this weekend-the usual, but a few more, and I need to get to the tidying and pick up some books at the libe.

The next holiday

is barreling it’s way towards us. I have a week enforced holiday-hopefully there will be lots of snow so we can go to the mountain and ski. M and S want to learn.

Anyways, the president-elect is at it again with the Twitter, and is picking people to ruin the gov’t. The Greens are doing recounts in flipped states-like that means anything. I chatted with an old school friend this morning. I’m trying to sell all my extra music gear.
Yesterday was work, home, dinner, S to bed, computer, me to bed. Trying to diminish the number of unread printed things I have. Then on to the boxes of paper. Then more purging. I think I’m in good shape, and as the tidy lady says: first your stuff.

Hopefully I’ll end up with tidy-I read the tidying book, and maybe that will be a pointed stick. Getting rid of unused music stuff is a big start too, as it’s all consolidated into the Kronos, QY and guitar gear now. Better, because it’s all integrated and in one place-I can improve my piano, and have a place to record at the same time. The only thing left is a way to do sampling in the field-I have a 58, but it has to be attached to the Kronos-a portable recorder is in my future-Zoom or Tascam, Tascam or Zoom?

OK, so work, home, long phone meeting, S to bed, yummy dinner, bed. I wanted to practice piano, but no. Finished up 3 magazines, working on a Chinese philosophy book and one on Masonry. Up, work, home-missed bus, E on a thing, sold the QY for $40. S to bed, dinner, bed. Finished the t’ai chi book, halfway through the masonry book-it’s basically Anthro in Masonic form, written in 1922. Slowly making my way through the dream book.
