Listening to: DN!, Orbital, Mingus, ELP, Eno, Michael Moore, Doudou n’Diaye Rose, Sly & Robbie, U2-yum! Electric Co.-that brings back memories-driving back in a blizzard from skiing in New York, tripping my ass off, and all the other times I listened to it tripping-watching Red Rocks on MTV-this was the band that could change the world…”2, 3, 4, 2, 3, 4, why must I hide from myself, when I need the crowd, bring on the crowd, I love the crowd.” Awesome-you could just see the stars falling and the angels blowing their trumpets.Cure, Laurie Anderson, Ven. 11:07 am-In a meeting-more typing practice-I need to pay attention somewhat… Recap: Tuesday-home, dinner, kids to bed, workout, a little bit of work, Wednesday-wash, work, Erika’s really tired-she worked hard on getting out enrollment stuff, and she’s not eating like she should. Home, school meeting on media and kids-I only stayed for the start, home, bought some books, dinner, TV, sleep. Kids to school, Erika slept in, t’ai chi with 7th graders-we’re working on heel kicks, so it’s all balance, work, meeting. My legs hurt from all the leg work. Some of the kids are great at the balancing, some not-I’m having them start at whatever leg height works and moving up from there. It’s all about rooting-you can practice using knee up from “Golden Rooster Stands on One Leg” This is also a big leg and hip flexor thing too…

Rosie O’Donnell quit, the Dow crossed 13,000, astronomers found an extrasolar planet that is in the liquid water zone and of a smallish size. More investigations, emerging scandals, Phil Spector’s trial, war funding, housing market slump & loan mess, Australia and Sri Lanka in the cricket World Cup final Saturday-Australia wins, though if Sri Lanka has a stellar match they have a chance. America’s Cup trials-Oracle looks like the contender, though you never know with yachting…I haven’t been watching. I’ve been looking over the sports section while pooping at work. Since I hate sports, this is interesting as a cultural exercise. Endless analysis and so much energy expended, it’s amazing. Bees are leaving their hives.

Listening to: nothing yet, I’m in a meeting, I wanted to listen to America’s Cup radio, but it doesn’t work, DN!, The Fuz, Lili De La Mora, Hardo Budayo, Tosca, Cowboy Junkies, Loreena McKennitt, Quiet American, Vincent Bergeron, Neil Young, Lenny Kravitz (next), Peter Gabriel, Earth Ear, TMBG, Peru folk, B-52’s, Rage, A3, Loren Nerell, Peter Gabriel (hmmmm)

Listening to: Paranoimia, DN!, Crosseyed Mary, The ConstruKction of Light, a set of Jethro Tull-Aqualung, Locomotive Breath (can you name this tune in 2 notes?), Minstrel in the Gallery, Songs from the Wood, Teacher-yummy-this just wraps me in sound and makes me feel warm and snuggly-prolly because of all the memories it has-and with this mention, when you Google Kris Landess, this blog will show up as well as traces of the actual Kris Landess.

I really blew it with her-Judy Brandon, while sweet and someone I still really like the memory of, wasn’t worth the devastation of breaking up with Kris. I’ll admit that I was a pig, and a dog, during that time, to both women-they deserved better from me. I tried to do better with Sue Crow, and subsequent women I didn’t engage with until trying to get to see crazy Rhonda’s body, that short lived one-her name escapes me (Marcee Weddle-edited 10/2016), then Eileen, then Marybelle, then I went off the deep end, but that bit is all in old blogs. So, I did some really idiotic things, and it put me into a serious five year depression-I only got out of it completely when I went to Grand Cayman-London was a blur, and I drank so much that I wasn’t totally clear to do all the things that a city like that has to offer. Oh well-no worries-I cherish all the memories, good and bad, and I have pictures too. I could contact her, but let’s let sleeping dogs lie and let her initiate if she wants. I suppose if I truly start the process of recapitulation it’ll come back, much like Ellison’s story “All the Birds Come Home to Roost”. Enough light on my past.

Next song: Cranberries, Steve Winwood (too pop-next), Bach, music of Ghana, Robyn Hitchcock, Deep Purple-Highway Star-yummy! Made in Japan was one of the first records I bought (grand funk railroad, focus, edgar winter (my mom forced me to ruin the cover because she didn’t like the picture-typical) and kiss were others), Conet-russian counting, Husker Du, Clash (punk #2, 3? nope), bar, Kate Bush, Lili De La Mora, Robert Johnson, Primus, David Sylvian, Brainsaw, A Brief History of Time (part 1), King Crimson, Chemical Brothers, Bardo Thodol (opening), PantyChrist, Toshi-Ickyanagi, Peru folk, burp, Seether (Bush clone, and Bush was a pale imitation of Nirvana, so twice removed from actual passion…next), phone, elipsis one, Chemical Brothers

By some wall-someone is going to do something bad, we gather in a room to plan and prep-go stealthy, but she learns we’re coming and sends out scouts. I go into a parking structure and they try to capture me. I get away and go through some soft pillowlike stuff. I evade again and continue up the street.

3:04 pm-Slide this in between lunch and work… Not much going on-working on alternate takes of BP, meeting about a smallish XML-XSL-HTML-CSS project. Lunch, onward. Last night-home, kids to bed, Erika fell asleep early, working on HLD and a little “the Project”. Kids up, to school, t’ai chi with 7th graders, to work, BP reworks. Yeltsin died.

Here’s a quote I picked up from Robert Fripp’s diary: “Freud (really should be Gustav Le Bon) identified the key features of a crowd mentality: invincibility, irresponsibility, impetuosity, contagion, changeability, suggestibility, collective hallucination and intellectual inferiority.” What does this sound like?

Guns n’Roses (that’s 2…), Yes (not this time), Greg Baumont, Jane’s Addiction, chicken, Puccini, Rostropovich, Veruca Salt, Rush (a rare recording of Cygnus X-1 live-yummy), Hildegard Von Bingen, wind, Conet (English Lady), Grateful Dead, Smashing Pumpkins, horse, Orb, Sugar Ray (blecch-next), David Sylvian & Fripp, Anthrax, Butthole Surfers, Art of Noise, U2, Kate Bush, Gayan Uttejak Society, Goo Goo Dolls (next), FSOL (better), horse, Tori Amos, Kadet Kuhne (from pop to avant-garde), Toad the Wet Sprocket, Smashing Pumpkins, horses, Garbage, Bill Bruford, King Crimson, Eno (that’s a triple King Crimson axis), White Stripes, Primus, Scooby Doo remix (next), Deftones (better), Mystified

In the Jabbz studio, big room, hanging out. There are kids there and stuff. I go down to the control room and chat with W. The main room is a basketball court. The control room is cluttered and small.

4:42 pm-Gonna get this in quick-Erika has a migraine and I need to finish a thing for BP. Last night-Erika meeting, kids to bed, tax rework, busted for not putting food away, work, Ubuntu upgrade. Today-Erika took kids, work, timesheets, rip Miracle DVD, finish up logo thing-Yahoo groups recompresses it-yuck! Burned an archive CD. Lost an earring. Lunch. We have a cool scanner, fax, photocopier, printer here so I’m trying to slowly go through my scanning backlog.

At some event-an orchestra and comedy-I walk around and sit in back-3 people are directing-Michael Jackson on piano, some kid and the real one. The guys in back are joking. Someone trails hot dogs as they walk up the hill. I start to put away some funky old sound system. E is bitching at me about asking about how some friends’ kids are-I’m in trouble. I see a bunch of Tibetan horns and stuff and ask to play one. A nun takes me in back-I’m not having much success. They start a service-I see a dragon snake across the roof.

Daily posting-4/19/2007

3:07-Back from lunch. Busy day so far, with no real end in sight. Yesterday: worked on BP mostly, HLD at lunch, “the Project” until late. Went to the store-Erika has a nasty cold. Kids to bed, dinner, workout-I’m doing a Chi Gong set, a Tai Chi set and the original Pilates mat set-it’s working-I can feel a difference in my tummy… I’m thinking about doing 5 rites, but it’s not as varied as Pilates-5 moves, 105 total reps, rather than 34 things with 183 total reps-more reps, more variety. I was up late working, Erika was snoring and had trouble sleeping, so I didn’t get to sleep ’til late. Up too early, took boys to school, taught Tai Chi to the 7 graders-they were squirrely. To work, Erika stopped by to sign 1040’s and there was a health thing so we got massages, food and signed up for Costco. I got 2 body fat things-21% for one and 25% for the other-odd-that’s an 8 pound difference… Worked on HLD during lunch.

Listening to: DN!, Art of Noise, Hole, Robert Rich, Elgar, Kirtan, U2, Crystal Method, South Park, Grimm’s Fairy Tales

Sunday-church, lunch at deli, shopping for banana split boat, home, work, kids to bed, work. Matt’s been “asserting his independence”…

Don Imus lost his job. 20 (no, 33) college students got killed by a lone gunman at Virginia Tech. Bill Moyers is doing a thing on the lies that led us to war on PBS on the 25th at 9. Watch it!

Have a bit of “the Project” work, HLD stuff and taxes to do. Colin has a really bad ear infection-he was unconsolable yesterday, and Erika took him to the hospital last night-he’s at risk of rupturing his eardrum. He got kid’s strong painkiller, so he’s relatively pain free, but he just barfed, so it’s messing up his tummy too. Backtracking: worked out Tuesday night-worked a bit on “the Project” afterwards, work yesterday, came home, dinner, Matt to bed, dinner, to bed with Colin.
